Didn't Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" keep its bullet when it dropped to #2 thanks to "Love You Inside Out" by The Bee Gees, 9 June 1979? I don't have my chart books right in front of me, this is by memory only, and an educated guess. I went and checked and Donna Summer, shockingly, did NOT keep the bullet on 6-9-79. I went and read the chart report but all they wanted to talk about were the Bee Gees tying the Beatles for most number 1's in a row, and RSO hitting number 1 again. That makes so little since to me. Dukedeb I think hit it on the head, though. If it wasn't for that "Desire" to give the Bee Gees number six in a row, Donna Summer would have had four weeks at number one. However, "Hot Stuff", dropped, and in the process didn't keep the bullet. Something smells rotten with that...

On R&R, "Love You Inside Out" stalled at #3 and was unable to pass Donna Summer for #1, just to give perspective from what happened on another chart at the time. Similarly on Cashbox, it stalled at #2.
