A double from Alan: He said Rockin' was Honeydrippers first biggie. That would be Sea of Love higher on this chart. Then he said Elt's Breaking Hearts would produce 4 top 40s before catching himself and clarifying Passengers would only get that high in the UK.

Nina said New Edition's countdown song was a different Mr. Telephone Man than Meri Wilson's. Duh. The latter didn't have 'Mr.' in its title.

Alan said Stevie was down three. Love Light was actually still climbing to cruising altitude 20-23.

In her weekly content screw up Nina said 'Die was the 3rd single & top tenner from Prince's album. It was the 4th behind Doves Cry, Crazy, and the Purple Rain title cut all 4 top 10s.

Alan said Sea of Love was Honeydrippers 1985 release. Of course it came out in 1984. Then in the ever changing hit definition he said New Edition's album had two biggies. I guess #35 Lost In Love doesn't qualify as a big one, at least this week.

Alan had an error when going over the changes in Chicago. He advised Will Champlin joined the band in 1981 - but that would be his father Bill. You can blame Wikipedia's "No-Hypocorisms-in-the-Lead-Section" policy for that one. Both "Will" and "Bill" are short forms (hypocorisms) of "William". The father (Bill) is "William Bradford Champlin", and the son (Will) is "William Christopher Champlin".

LOL - why blame Wikipedia when you can blame Alan Hunter directly for messing up his first name, and not knowing the proper hypocorism to use due to his overall lack of knowledge of the topic!

From the February 4, 1989 Countdown:
1. During the intro for "Just Because", Nina stated that Anita Baker is "not related to the aforementioned Jim and Tammy Faye". Jim and Tammy Faye Baker is actually spelled with two K's in the middle, Anita Baker is spelled with just one "K".
2. Mark stated that "It's No Secret" gave Kylie one of her longest-running singles in the U.S., even though her cover of "Locomotion" charted for 25 weeks compared to the 13 for "It's No Secret".
3. Alan accidentally said that "Shake for the Sheik" was at #29 before stating the correct position (#28) during the intro for said Escape Club song.

Nina mispronounced "Roni" like "Ronnie" during the outro to that song.

Nina mispronounced "Roni" like "Ronnie" during the outro to that song. Nothing new there. It's so obvious that they're voicetracking and not hearing the songs.

I remembered an error from two weeks ago that I forgot to mention at the time. In the 1985 show, Alan Hunter referred to New Edition member "Rocky" Bell (instead of Ricky).

After an opening good, bad, ugly comment by Alan, Mark said Heart was headed to a #8 peak. Ann and Nancy had already been there with Tell It and were on their way off the chart.

After a couple more good, bad ugly comments by Alan, in her weekly content screw up Nina said Longer was one of Dan Fobelberg's 1970s hits. Of course it didn't crack the top 40 until Jan 1980. Then after another snide remark by Alan, in her weekly chart screw up Nina said Woman was climbing 7. It was really moving 8-17.

From Feb. 7 of '81:
1. Alan didn't mention the name of the Diana Ross countdown song or its position ("It's My Turn", at #9).
2. The display for The Jacksons "Heartbreak Hotel" had the words "Simmons Only" after the title for some unknown reason.
3. Not an error, but at least Nina said the full title for the second John Lennon countdown song (including the "Just Like" part), unlike during the past countdowns it's appeared on.

In their ever changing hit definition Alan said Two Shoes would be Ant's only hit. Of course Adam had several more Hot 100 entries including two top 40s.
