Alan said after 4 singles it was finally time for the title cut... but Private Dancer was the 4th single.

Nina said Nightshift was their first hit without Richie, not crediting Commodores for their Hot 100 post Lionel entries up to that point.

The other post Richie Commodores songs that never made top 40 reaches of the hot 100 were: "Painted Picture" "Reach High" (The theme to the second season of the little known early 1980's TV sitcom "Teachers Only") "Only You"

What makes them playing 3/28/87 again even more frustrating is that at the beginning, Mark said they were going back to the 21st.

They also played #2 and #3 out of order. Why are things always a mess when one of them is absent (Alan was on vacation)?

And you would also think that after 15 years almost (14.5 or so) of this show being on the air, something would be done to address these minor, but obvious errors that even though 99.9% won't care, we pick it up. But no... even after our complaints, there really hasn't been any progress to deal with the situation - and in some cases, it's been regressing.

But no... even after our complaints, there really hasn't been any progress to deal with the situation - and in some cases, it's been regressing. It is just obvious to most of us that they just don't care. Just one thing I would like to point out--the surveys from Billboard charts show the "week ending date." Therefore, it was not incorrect to play the 3-28-87 show on 3-22-24.

They also played #2 and #3 out of order. Why are things always a mess when one of them is absent (Alan was on vacation)? Yeah, it looked like after single #3, the show suddenly changed to covering the top positions of the previous week's (March 21, 1987) chart. This is what you get when the VJ Big 40's producers don't have a willingness to be more careful when choosing which charts to cover. And if you try to address this to their Facebook page directly, all you're going to get is automated generic replies and nothing being done to rectify the problem of repeatedly covering the exact same Hot 100 charts over and over.

And I think as a cost-cutting measure, instead of new commentary on charts that have already been selected, they should just do what the 60s channel does is just reair them as they were originally broadcast, unless if it was from a different chart (as was the case early on).
It could save time by giving the VJs a week off or more and only have them come in to the studios if it's a new chart or a chart that hasn't been played in a very long time.

The problem with re-airing old shows is that the VJs have incorporated so many 'updates' into their commentary (what 80's artists are doing now, new projects, who they're currently touring with, plugging various 80's Cruises, etc.), which anchors the show just as much with 'today' as it does to the original chart date. If they could remove such commentary, they could play these countdowns in perpetuity.
