From Elt's Nikita: Oh I saw you by the wall Ten of your tin soldiers in a row With eyes that looked like ice on fire The human heart a captive in the snow Oh Nikita you will never know anything about my home I'll never know how good it feels to hold you Nikita I need you so Oh Nikita is the other side of any given line in time Counting ten tin soldiers in a row Oh no, Nikita you'll never know Do you ever dream of me? Do you ever see the letters that I write? When you look up through the wire Nikita do you count the stars at night? You know what they say about everything old becoming new again--thanks, Vlad!

Dean Friedman Ariel:
I picked her up in my new V double U van I took her home with me, we watched some TV Annette Funicello and some guy going steady I started fooling around with the vertical hold

One of my all-time favorite songs. My life in late spring/early summer 1977 mirrored that song so perfectly it was spooky! (Her name wasn't Ariel, it was Pamela...)

Dean Friedman Ariel: I picked her up in my new V double U van I took her home with me, we watched some TV Annette Funicello and some guy going steady I started fooling around with the vertical hold And eventually Channel 2 signed off. Today most commercial TV stations don't "sign off" at night; they run all night news, movies, sitcom/drama reruns, or if nothing else infomercials.

ONJ sang:
In the corner of the bar there stands a jukebox With the best of country music, old and new You can hear your five selections for a quarter And somebody else's songs when yours are through Please, Mr., Please, don't play B-17

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, though it's fairly obscure:
Neil Diamond -- If You Know What I Mean:
"And we gave it away for the sake of a dream in a penny arcade"
A what?

Not a lyric but in my catching up on shows, one statement Casey made wouldn't make sense to people now: "I guess most people know Julliard is to music schools what the Miami Dolphins are to pro football."

Not a lyric but in my catching up on shows, one statement Casey made wouldn't make sense to people now: "I guess most people know Julliard is to music schools what the Miami Dolphins are to pro football." And a Dolphins lyric that STILL makes sense after 20 years, from Hootie and the Blowfish: "I'm such a baby 'cause the Dolphins make me cry".

Monkees: Pleasant Valley Sunday. Not sure a TV in every room would be considered a "status symbol" today.
And Mr. Green he's so serene He's got a TV in every room

Asia - Heat of the Moment
And now you find yourself in '82, the disco hot spot's holding a job for you.

Asia - Heat of the Moment And now you find yourself in '82, the disco hot spot's holding a job for you. I'm certain the second line is "....holds no charms for you."

I have a habit of mishearing lyrics left, right & center, but, I swear that line from the 2nd verse goes:
... The disco hot spots hold no charm for you ...
