In MC Hammer's "Have You Seen Her" from 1990, he opens with his dialogue-"Ah Yeah I'm glad I put this tape in"

Motownphilly:
"Boyz II Men...ABC...BBD"
The acronyms refer to fellow R&B groups Another Bad Creation and Bell Biv Devoe. Some people today might remember the latter, but I doubt anyone remembers the former. (Anybody who remembers "ABC" today is likely thinking of the British group who sang "Poison Arrow.")

Don’t think this has been mentioned yet, In "Crazy About Her" Rod Stewart mentions the now obsolete Walkman.
I see her jogging in Central Park, with one of those Walkman’s on her head She was hot, young and beautiful And I said to myself She’s destined to be mine

^In the same vein, Bryan Adams mentioned the five and dime where he bought his first real six string.
(Forgive me if this has already been pointed out elsewhere in this thread)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas: Everywhere you go take a look in the five-and-ten An even more anachronistic line from that song is "A pair of Hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots is the hope of Bobby and Ben." For not just one but two reasons: 1. "Hopalong" refers to the popular movie cowboy Hopalong Cassidy from the '30's and '40's (played by the late actor William Boyd). There are probably few people younger than age fifty who have even heard of him. 2. Furthermore, the whole idea of a little boy wishing for an actual GUN THAT SHOOTS as a gift would be enough to send the PC crowd into a traumatic frenzy. Child Protective Services would yank that kid out of his home, perform a psychiatric evaluation on him, and then prescribe him Ritalin. (Yet, ironically, back when that song was first a hit, we DIDN'T have school shootings. Go figure.)

The "Hopalong Cassidy" movie serials from the '30s/'40s got a second life in the 1950s--they offered to TV stations in hour-long increments and became wildly popular as afternoon/after school programming for children. Ol' 'Hopalong' was one of the main precursors to the 'western boom' on prime-time TV in the late '50s and early '60s. He was TV's first big 'cowboy star'.

Whereas the last cassette Walkman rolled off the lines in 2010, Sony still uses the name to sell digital music players. www.sony.com/electronics/walkman-digital-music-players/t/walkman

I'm surprised more people haven't voiced offense at that in an age when Rudolph and Baby It's Cold Outside are being criticized.

Forty-five years ago next week, Jim Stafford entered the top 40 with "Spiders and Snakes," where he mentioned "I call her up when I've got a dime"

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas: Everywhere you go take a look in the five-and-ten However, in a decade or so, dollar stores may eventually become "Five-and-Ten" (as in $5 and $10). I was just telling a friend that the phrase "dollar store" is a bit of a misnomer already. LOL.
