There's also "Band Of Gold" by Freda Payne.

I don't suppose Blondie's "Atomic" would qualify?

Absolutely Nickleback should be considered. If we had to listen to them, then they do count :-D How many songs actually hit the top 40 with the word "Gold" in it? I can think of four off the top of my head...one number one: Heart of Gold Gold-John Stewart Gold-Spandau Ballet Fields of Gold-Sting Any others (not counting "golden")? What about a person Andrew Gold.

Wasn't there a cover of Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" that hit the Top 40?

CCR's top 10 (albeit pre-AT40) hit from fall 1969, "Down on the Corner", includes in its lyrics: Bring a NICKEL, tap your feet.

A couple of albums that qualify:
"Selling The Drama" and "Lightning Crashes" by Live were from their #1 album Throwing Copper.
"Got To Give It Up" by Marvin Gaye was from his #3 album Live At The London Palladium.

Wasn't there a cover of Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" that hit the Top 40? Yes; the English group Prelude reached #22 in November 1974 with an a cappella version of "After the Gold Rush". Maybe we'll get to hear it from Premiere next month. And if we're expanding the list to peripheral use of elements, how about the many hits released on Mercury Records? (Whose current hitmakers include Neon Trees--does putting those two elements together make a chart molecule?)

Twenty One Pilots have a current single called "Chlorine", which has been on the fringes of the top 40 over the past few weeks.

There was "Fool's Gold" by Sofia Carson in 2021. And, it's a stretch, but currently there's "Water" [or H2O] by Tyla.
