7/29/78 has all kindas of edits on almost ever song.. specially magnet and steel Most of the 1978 shows are a hack job...as Casey had to rush to get 40 songs in. This was about the time they came to their senses and made AT40 a four hour show.

This week's 1981 show edit of Saved My Soul was brutal, just brutal. Was that the 45 version or the handiwork of the AT40 staff?

NOT a '45 version'! Apparently the montage of 1974's #1 songs took so long that they had to edit that week's #1 ("Then Came You"). On the positive side, the '74 show was a rare chance to hear the Raspberries' "Overnight Sensation" with no edits.

I agree, but, to me, there's a difference between an edit made on the original show, and one by Premiere. Back in the original run, care was usually taken to make the edit seamless. Often, it was for a song that was falling, as opposed to a new song. The edits showed a level of respect. If an edit took place, it cut out and came back in at the same spot, from chorus to chorus.
Premiere's edits, well, they lack effort, they lack care. The edits don't make sense. Sometimes they will cut out more than just a verse and chorus. Sometimes they will edit out a mere 2 measures. Sometimes it is several verses and choruses. I get the idea that it isn't a human doing the editing, nor a robot, nor a chimpanzee. Finally, they don't always get the edit on the right downbeat. Having a 5/4 measure in a 4/4 song, that was not the original intention of the musicians, well, it can be ridiculously jarring.

^Well, technically, if they're resorting to computer analysis to determine editing of songs, that qualifies as a robot. Even so, somebody's got to have written the software giving the 'bot the means to achieve their ends.
Still, I'd rather believe it was a human who made the edits, and their names are given at the end of the show by Larry.

Was it me or did I just hear a painful edit skip or something in Tavares' "Check it Out" on the 11/10/1973 AT40: The 70's episode I am listening to this morning on WLS 94.7 FM Chicago?

On this week’s 1987 show the edit on Right On Track is so bad. It’s not even an edit, they just cut out most of the song. So disappointing. Why Premiere?
Sorry for the original typo. I don’t know what I was thinking

On this week’s 1987 show the edit on Back On Track is so bad. It’s not even an edit, they just took out most of the song. So disappointing. Why Premiere? You mean Right on Track. I guess it took an "Esctacy When You Lay Down Next to Me/Humpty Dance/Mind Playing Tricks on Me" 1 minute 30 second first verse only thing.

Premiere did the same thing as before: On OE 'eye of the tiger' they edited out the 2nd verse and left us with the 1st verse repeated. At 3:45 running time, they could've gotten the whole song in.

OMG, just listening to a show from Aug 1978 and Casey told a story about Cheryl Ladd, and played the 'Angel's countdown Think It Over in two minutes, forty seconds....brutal!
