I would imagine there are a lot of edits in AT40's original 1987 Year End Show. There were a lot of original Watermark edits in the year end countdowns starting in 1983 and no extras or montages were played. 1987 is the first time a montage of the year's #1 hits was played since 1978.

There's another montage played before #1 in the 1987 year end. Hope Premiere keeps it in for this rebroadcast. They removed the montage before #1 in the 1978 rebroadcast they did a few years ago--hope they keep it in this time.

They removed the montage before #1 in the 1978 rebroadcast they did a few years ago--hope they keep it in this time. Given that Premiere had to squeeze in 50 songs for a three-hour show, the #1 montage had to go (though said montage stayed when they did the Top 40 of 1976 and 1977 when there were fewer songs to edit).

If premiere is cutting material from the original 48 min program content, which gives you 12 mins of commerical inventory opportunity (assumingly 6 mins network/6 minutes local split in the US), that's kinda scary how much inventory is being run. SXM cuts the crap out of the jingles, but realistically makes sense, as if there are no breaks between segments, it sounds kinda of awkward, yet premiere leaves the jingles in, so you hear the outro of one segment and the into jingle of another back to back.

Whoa, the version of Janet Jackson's "Control" on the 1987 year-end countdown was brutal. It almost sounded like a skipping CD, for those of you out there who remember such things.

Yea, I agree on all these edits - so obvious - I just hate getting into the meat of a song, and then an entire verse is edited out.

What I don't like guys, is EVERY time I hear 'Nothin's gonna stop us now', by Starship, the 2nd verse ALWAYS gets edited out. EVERY TIME. Why would Premier do that to us, if, in fact, they ARE Premier edits?

Another example is, in, Stevie Wonder's 'I ain't gonna stand for it', the 2nd verse ALWAYS gets edited out. Have people no shame?

From the second half of 1987 through the first half of 1988 there were some horrible edits on AT40. Some of the choppier ones that were aired on multiple weeks:
Whitney Houston, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" George Michael, "I Want Your Sex" Janet Jackson, "The Pleasure Principle" Debbie Gibson, "Foolish Beat" Richard Marx, "Should've Known Better" (this was a single edit, but it was on the wrong beat so it really stuck out)
It's like they just didn't care by that point.

I just had to bump this thread One of my favorite songs from 1976 is Moonlight Feels Right. The edit on the 6/5/76 show was about as painful as it gets!
