I can’t believe I’m saying this, maybe it’s because I’m getting old but I found myself listening to Christmas music today and....liking it!

This is only my opinion on Xmas music starting the day after Halloween. You have to remember this is a non political election year. Some radio stations only care on how much money they can get from advertisers. If this was an even number year involving a federal/state election, the station would be flooded with political ads. However, since we are in an odd number year, the only elections are only local races with very low interest. Since this year corporate radio can't get political ad revenue, they start Xmas music earlier to get the retail ad revenue. Next year the stations will wait until Wednesday or Thursday after election day to flip to Xmas music.
Of course, I only listen to stations that will air Casey's Kasem's American Top 40 70s/80s on a year round basis, not 10 months out of the year. WNIC is never a good reliable station for a Casey Kasem countdown show. Generally, I only listen to satellite or other stations out of my hometown.

And for 2020, it only gets better. For stations that flip to Christmas music at midnight on Halloween, we "fall back" during the early morning hours on November 1. That first day of the new format not only contains political advertising, but also *25* hours of Christmas music.

I tried to call WNIC yesterday to see what they are going to play Sunday to no avail. Are AT40 Christmas countdowns even available yet? Maybe they will play 1987 this week? I doubt it. That sucks. I am against Christmas tunes this early!

You’ll also be happy to know I spent yesterday editing commercials out of all the Bob Kingsley Christmas in America shows I have. So now I can commercial free with those along with the already commercial free versions of Christmas Across the Lands, and AT10 Christmas shows. I’m old.

Hey - I'm no spring chicken myself. I'm coming up on having been around for half a century!

Hey - I'm no spring chicken myself. I'm coming up on having been around for half a century! And I'm just three years behind you. Hard to believe I've been around as long as I already have. I remember being in kindergarten like it was yesterday. Listening to the late 70s and early 80s AT40 shows, I remember when just about all these songs were popular. It wasn't until 1984 that I became a regular AT40 listener.

WKZG switched over Halloween evening. As I understand the KZ countdown that usually airs at 6:00 Sundays will now air at 7:00.

^Never mind. It's a Christmas special. I thought it was supposed to be the hits of this week in 1992.

On November 1, at 12 PM (Central Time), WJDX-FM (105.1 The River) switched to wall-to-wall Christmas music. American Top 40: The '80s is preempted--for now.

Looks like KABQ not doing the switch this year. Their sister station is instead airing Xmas tunes and they made the jump flippin' yesterday....Nov 4th! That's fantastic--I think they have made the Xmas switch the past few years. Let's hope they turned over a new leaf this year...
