^you didn't mention the Vanilla Fudge version of "You Keep Me Hanging On" -- which is numero uno out of all of them! You beat me by one minute! Yes, but you know great music! ;D

And I'll go one further even though I'm sure I'll be in the minority with this one: I think the Bangles version of "Hazy Shade Of Winter" is far and beyond better than Simon & Garfunkel's version. You're not in the minority with me: The Bangles remake of "Hazy" is, IMO, one of the best remakes ever. It sure beats a group that had one hit, also in 1988, who on their one album had a remake of "Cecilia". That group was Times Two. Remakes of S & G seemed hip back in '88.

You all know the greatest remake ever is Nikki French's Total Eclipse of the Heart ::ducks and runs out of the room as fast as humanly possible::

I agree with you. And I'll go one further even though I'm sure I'll be in the minority with this one: I think the Bangles version of "Hazy Shade Of Winter" is far and beyond better than Simon & Garfunkel's version. Also, Kim Wilde's "You Keep Me Hanging On" is the best verson I have ever heard, superior to The Supremes and Phil Collins. For some odd reason, I never did like "Hazy Shade of Winter," either the Simon & Garfunkel original or the Bangles remake. "You Keep Me Hanging On," I don't really have a favorite there ... and FWIW it was "You Can't Hurry Love" that Phil Collins covered. On that latter song, I'd rate the Diana Ross & the Supremes original and the Phil Collins remake about the same -- both really good. Brian

Nothing like an H-D-H/Supremes song done up full-blown psychedelia-style! ;D Trivia quiz: What's the Vanilla Fudge/Rod Stewart connection? Both recorded with guitarist Jeff Beck for short periods.

He was the drummer for Vanilla Fudge during their Atco years & was Rod Stewart's drummer when he co-wrote his best record: "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." (sorry, rock purists...that is the undisputed truth!)

(sorry, rock purists...that is the undisputed truth!) We have a winner! Appice recorded and toured with Rod from 1977's "Footloose and Fancy Free" through 1981's "Tonight I'm Yours". Rod mentions him quite a bit in his new autobiography, "Rod", which is a very entertaining read!

Prediction for next weekend's show: February 19, 1983 (Backup prediction: February 15, 1986) I don't know if Wahoo is going to agree with me, but if he does, I just hope he doesn't say that we are soulmates. That just sounds kind of creepy.
