Did WSMG ever play a show last night? I listened until 7:20 and they were still playing current hits. WSMG is back on air. Since there is no B show from the 80s this week, the station is likely to air last week's May 5, 1979 show. The current hits you heard last week was probably from Tunein.

They went with 5-5-84 tonight. WSMG normally replays last week's A show at midnight, so they replayed 5-5-84.

For Casey to say that all those Australian artists are still recording and that those rankings could change is surprising especially regarding Helen Reddy who had not hit the chart in 4 years and only to #88 at that. Record Research does not calculate such things the way AT40 did but in their 1955-1993 Pop Singles book, Rick Springfield on the strength of 2 more hits after "Celebrate Youth" did overtake Helen Reddy. He ended up with 1358 points to her 1304 points. In their latest book that was published last year, INXS is the top ranked Australian artist.

WMMX for past 2 weeks including this morning and last week, skipped hour four last segment after opt xtra.. So I wonder if there's something wrong with the station?...

My predictions for the last week of May is either 5/31/1980 (last aired in 2017) or 5/29/1982 (last aired in 2016).
(I'm leaning toward 1980 since we haven't heard that year since the beginning of March.)

Casey mentions the song "Invisible Hands" by Kim Carnes as well, and in the 1990's we would get one more Invisible song: "Invisible Man" by 98 Degrees.

We would get another one in the next decade and it's my fave invisible song, "Invisible" by Clay Aiken, the last few weeks that Casey hosted AT40.

With executive producer Tom Rounds objecting to its use, this was the last time Helen Reddy’s “You And Me Against The World” was utilized as an LDD.

Did Tom Rounds always hated that Helen Reddy "You and Me Against the World" song? Was it even played in the 1990's on the AC WW1 "Casey's Countdown" and the 1998-2009 AC AT20/AT10 shows?

I don’t know if “You and Me…” was ever played in a Casey countdown after 1985, but in another thread (“Songs That Casey Liked”), it’s stated that he loved the song. Maybe Casey pushed to have this LDD used and prevailed over Tom Rounds’ objections.
