96.1 Quad Cities is a mess. No show this morning. Then a promo saying the time is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tune in at 11,no show just regular music. Don't know whats goin' on. Update: I went to the Mix 96.1 website and I heard wrong. New time for AT40 the 80's. Now Sunday starting at 11 local time. They have dropped AT40 the 70's. They were running the 70's on Sundays, but now no more.

If I'm not mistaken,3/7/81 has been played numerous times on the 24 hour "AT40" channel from I-Heart Radio. Correct. At the end of that show, Casey announced the date as 3/8/1981. Some stations aired the show on Sundays...which 3/8 was (and will be this year).

Like the story that Casey told about Gary "U.S." Bonds-In the spring of 1981,he returned to the top forty with "This Little Girl" which was written & produced by Bruce Springsteen.

I saw Gary live in the fall of '81, at the AZ State Fair. He was SO thankful to Bruce for reviving his career. And he put on a good show.

Prediction for next show:
3/20/82
There don't appear to be that many options. 3/24/84 seems to be the only other available show but I guess 1984 waits until Easter weekend.

The optional extras for 3/12/83:
"Even Now" - Bob Seger "Beat It" - Michael Jackson "I Won't Hold You Back" - Toto "Always Something There To Remind Me" - Naked Eyes
"Even Now" replaces "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby, which has been frequently used as an optional extra.

Gotta love Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo on "Beat It"-Speaking of Eddie,I understand he's having health problems at this time.

For some reason, my recording for KABQ did not fire up Sunday afternoon, so I was forced to scramble to find the "B" show on Sunday night.
I managed to get part of it from WTKU from Linwood, NJ. I'm pleasantly surprised by their broadcast so far. A lot of reverb in the broadcast - reminds me of the old WABC days! It sounds like Casey is doing the show from inside the AT 40 Hall of Fame!
So far I'm through two hours and they have played both optional extras and they have added their own afterwards - "Cold As Ice" and "Hold Me Now".

Mercifully. Back to last week for a minute. I don't believe in curses but three of the four songs that were at #29 on the shows played last week were peaking----I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) from 1981, Softly Whispering I Love You from 1972 and Never Let Her Go from 1975. Only I'm On Fire from 1985 continued to matriculate its way up the charts.
