Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 3/7/81 2nd Guess - 3/6/82
3/9/85 was also mentioned in earlier posts -- that would make a good 'B' show pairing to either of these. If 1981 doesn't happen next week, it would almost be a lock for the weekend of the 21st.

Interesting that a show that last aired ten years ago is going to be a "B" show. Didn't something like that happen in the last year or so?

I remember 4/19/1986 aired as a "B" in 2016, when it last aired before the Larry Morgan era began in July 2009. That was pretty uncommon. Maybe not so much now since Larry has done just about all the voice tracks and optional extras. I think a good number of stations will air 1985, though.

^^Based on the 1981/85 pairing, I’d guess that the next week’s show will be March 12 of 1983 or 1988, as either year could have been coupled with 1981 and 1984, 86, and 87 have been played by themselves in the last month. Notably, 3/12/88 was last aired eight years ago.

For 3/7/81 optional extras, I'll go with:
"Her Town Too" "Ain't Even Done With The Night" "Turn Me Loose" "Hold On Loosely"

That was literally the only time that's happened since 'B' shows started being offered in the 80's series in 2015, and to this day I still don't totally get why they did that. IIRC, 1981 had not yet been played as an 'A' show in 2016, and it felt like Premiere had planned on 1986 as the 'A' but realized at the last minute that they had offered no 1981 'A's through April, and thus swapped the shows. That's just a theory though. And that was back when it was hard to find good 'B' show options. WODC played it, but with no extras.

3/7/81 has been played a bunch on the iheartradio AT40 classic stream, but it has not been aired at all over the air since March 5-6, 2011. Funny thing, Casey gives the show's date as "March 8, 1981" at the end of the show, and jdelachjr2002 gave the shows date as March 6, 1981 on the Pulse Music Board AT40 classic site from March 4, 2011. These were the optional extras back then: Hour 1: "How 'Bout Us" - Champaign (#56) Hour 2: "Ain't Even Done With The Night" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#44) Hour 3: "Turn Me Loose" - Loverboy (#48) Hour 4: "Hold On Loosely" - .38 Special (#75) Oddly enough, the 4/11/81 show was played five weeks later back in 2011, and "Hold On Loosely" was one of the extras again for that show too. The last time 3/9/85 aired (March 6-7, 2010), it was one of only four 1985 shows to be played that year (though it's worth noting that the 1985 Top 100 was played at the end of the year). Probably not surprisingly, there were seven 1985 weekly countdown shows played the following year. These were the optional extras from the 2010 airing: Hour 1: "Crazy For You" - Madonna (#42) Hour 2: "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" - Don Henley (#44) Hour 3: "One Night In Bangkok" - Murray Head (#57) Hour 4: "In My House" - Mary Jane Girls (#87; debuted)

One of the LDD’s on the show today was just dumb-a girl is jealous because the guy “who has it all “ like the hot girl ,who only cares about herself. Eh I think we’ve all been there. Yeah it’s a stupid letter but we can all relate. Well most of us can. I know I’ve been there. I couldn’t understand why this guy I liked so much in 7th grade who I thought at the time “had it all” good looks, popularity etc..liked this girl so much. Years later it wasn’t difficult to figure out. She was blond and thin and one of the “mean girls”..I on the other hand had an awkward period. So I can relate to “Anna”. Yeah, at first I was like, who chose this letter and why, but like Casey said I think we’ve all been there at some point in our lives whether we want to admit it or not. The best line in the letter has to be “I just don’t understand, he likes pretty people”. The LDD about the two girls with cancer was heartbreaking. I didn’t care for the edit in “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by the Starship, as Casey called them (when were they called “the” Starship?) but that’s a minor annoyance. Other then that I thought the 1987 show was excellent.
