Prediction for next show:
11/29/80
The last day of the month falls on a Saturday so it's possible a December show could air here but the only ones that work are 12/1/84 (aired only 3 years ago) and 12/6/86 (date difference is kind of extreme) so I'm sticking with the 1980 show.

This week I got 1 of the 4 that I thought they would use correct and 3 of the 4 that I wanted them to use correct. The 1 I correctly thought they would use, Shake It Up, is also the only 1 I did not want to hear .

Yes, I agree on someone's comment that 1982 and 1984 are probable candidates for December. Probably the December 15, 1984 show since that was not played in quite some time.
1986, at this point, is iffy for December, but my gut feeling says we may likely get a 1980 show in December, and not in the last week in November.
If a 1986 show happens in December, my best guess is it will likely be either the show initially broadcast on December 6 or 13, 1986 (the former last aired in 2009, I believe).

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 11/29/80 2nd Guess - 11/29/86
Well, it has to be a show with a date of Nov. 28th, 29th, or 30th (assuming they don't dip into December, which could happen--if it does it would almost have to be 12/1/84). 11/30/85 is out since it was played two years ago. 11/28/87 is out since 1987 was played earlier in November. That leaves the two November 29th shows...take your pick there.

I would say there is a pretty good chance we get one of those shows in the coming weeks--that is, if 11/29/86 doesn't go next weekend.

I want 1980 but not until January--I enjoy when a new year ending in zero is exactly 40 years ago. 1990 is in Shadoe realm--maybe by the time it reaches 40 years , in 2030, Premier will finally relent and give us Shadoe-hosted shows. We'll have to wait until mid-2020 to get to 1970 as five decades ago.
I want lots of 1981 in 2021, 1982 in 2022, etc., but we haven't had much 1979 this year and fear the pattern will carry over into next year.

Interestingly, both “Leaving On a Jet Plane” and “Someday We’ll Be Together” remained in the top 40 into February 1970. Curious as to, if Casey’s later methodology would have been used and somngs from mid-late December also were included on a year-ended, how those songs would’ve ranked? Also a point of trivia: Late in their chart runs, a new song was climbing the chart by Bobbie Gentry about a young woman who uses prostitution to escape poverty and eventually build a better life for herself. In 1991, the song became far-better known by Reba McEntire, and this past week, she performed the song on the Country Music Association awards program. Yep, I’m talking “Fancy” here. Brian I remember "Fancy" by Gentry very well--in fact, I believe it debuted on the Hot 100 50 years ago this week. I had no idea what the tune was as an eight-year-old, but I enjoyed story songs even at that age.

I think you're reading too much into numerical patters there. My guess is that Premiere's show pickers don't look at it that way, and that it's more about what shows and songs within each show pull the ratings, which shows have been played more times, what's been played more recently, etc. Who knows why they've gone light on 1979 in the second half of this year, and that could very well be reversed next year--but the odds of that having to do with it being 40 years ago, which number is in the last digit of the year, etc. would have to be close to nil.

I came to see what the 80s show was for this week, but after this discussion, I had to do a double take and make sure I was still in the 80s thread. Speaking of the sixties: An absolutely blatant leap (not only in time) goes back to 1968, when on 29 June 1968 a certain Tiny Tim reached #17 with "Tip Toe Thru´ The Tulips":
For a long time I believed that this song was written somewhere in a German-speaking carnival, but lo and behold, there was also an American original.

So now that we have the last show in November, how about this for a possible list of December shows:
December 7, 2019: 12/6/86 December 14, 2019: 12/11/82 December 21, 2019: 12/22/84 December 28, 2019: 1/4/86 - Top 100 of 1985 Part 1 (then of course, January 4, 2020 would be 1/4/86 - Top 100 of 1985 Part 2)

The exception is they then did 12/10/83 where you have 12/11/82, but it's been longer since they did 1982 and with this list every year would have had a turn in November or December.

The other possibility is we get 12/13/86 the second week of December and 12/11/82 the week before. Either way those three years are sure to be featured.
Also the year-end show possibility is kind of ambiguous. Having had both 1981 and 1985 shows for the last time of the year in November, I wouldn't rule out the top 100 of 1981 possibly being scheduled for the last week of December. After all 1981 shows have been very scarce in the last half of the year (in fact only twice in the last 7 months.)
