Casey answers a question asking what record spent the longest time in the Top 10. Answer is "The Twist", at 25 weeks.
That record has since been broken by 32 weeks spent up there for "How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes, but right at this time, we've had a record that has now just fallen short of that mark. Leaving the Top 10 on next week's (7/18) Billboard Hot 100 after 31 weeks in there, is "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars.

Yeah I can't believe "How Do I Live" has that record because how much do you hear it on the air these days. I was hoping Uptown Funk! would tie it & it's nice to see someone else follow the Hot 100 (despite who sad it is now).

I usually listen to WWIS on Friday but decided to listen to Abigail today & here's 3 things 1. They have better sound quality 2. I like the extra end of the hour songs 3. Don't have to hear Flo & Mosquito Guy.

Abigail sounds 1000% better - and funky filler songs! Like this show - didn't think I would.

Just like the June 11 88 show last month there was that awful Foolish Beat edit. Someone thought they did a good job (wrong).

Tell you what, I just realized why I had stopped listening to the WWIS broadcast of AT40 - the d**ned ads on their live stream page. You have to mute each one before they start or else you have to listen to the d**n thing!
Actually, I had been listening to the show on WEZG, but my Internet conked out on me and didn't come back until the end of the first hour and I started listening on WWIS, since they were several songs behind the WEZG broadcast.

That is quite a home stretch on this show this week. Some additional posts in the Casey Kasem jinx thread seem to be in store as he hints or thinks that the songs at #4, #3 and #2 will hit #1. Can't say I have ever heard anything like that before. And with good reason. Casey had been counting them down for 18 years as of this show. And in none of those shows had he been presented with songs at those three positions which had all been up at least 4 notches. That's right. The closest came on 5/11/74 when "The Streak" moved 6-2, "Dancing Machine" moved 5-3 and "The Entertainer" moved 11-4. In that show, the only one that he said something regarding hitting #1 was after "The Entertainer", he said not many records make moves like that into the top 10. That is definitely headed to #1. Which BTW is more definitive about a song hitting #1 than what he said about any of this week's 3 records. But that is unique to not only have songs at positions 2,3 and 4 moving up at least 4 notches each but to have none of them hit #1 either. And to think it was not a blockbuster #1 song that kept them all out of the top spot! Who would have guessed that Richard Marx would jet 15-8-5-1 over a three-week period, though? And Richard himself only managed one week there thanks to the even faster-moving Steve Winwood, who did get that aforementioned blockbuster #1 with his song. ---------- OK, "The Flame" just started - and like 6/27/87, Casey didn't read the #1s on Billboard's other charts! Anyone happen to know if this originally happened or if this was a rogue Premiere edit? ( at40petebattistini?)

Why DID Premiere give us another '88 show, just 5 weeks after the last 1? Didn't make sense!

Why DID Premiere give us another '88 show, just 5 weeks after the last 1? Didn't make sense! This was the last time that they could do 1988 without airing a recent repeat. Whenever possible, they do repeats that were last played no less than five years ago (not counting B shows). July 16 was done in 2011, July 23 in 2012, and August 6 in 2013. July 30 was hosted by Hall & Oates, so that was obviously out. So that left July 9, which Premiere last ran back in 2009. Last year, the last 1988 show was in May, and they didn't want to end on 1988 so soon this year, so they made up for it by running three 1988 shows in less than two months' time. This will almost definitely be the last 1988 show until January (unless they run one of the above-mentioned 1988 shows as a B show).

This may be a long shot, but since this is the 45th anniversary of the show starting,August 6th,1988 could be used as a B show to commemorate the end of Casey's first run. I'll throw that out there as a crazy prediction.
