I'm actually not at all. I enjoy the guest hosted shows and most of them are excellent broadcasts. But I also understand why, as a business decision, not airing them or the Shadoe shows is the only way to go for Premiere. I can't even count the number of times this exact discussion is had each year by the same people. Based on the success the shows have, I completely understand why Premiere would never air a non-Casey show as a part of the series, outside of the Dick Clark show in 2012. It just wouldn't be a good move, even though all of us would enjoy it. Listeners want familiarity and they want Casey. It was different during the original run, as the current chart was the top priority. Now it is nostalgia and casual listeners just want to hear Casey. Look, as my handle suggests, I'd love to hear Shadoe shows on the radio again. However, I agree with Brett 100%. Shadoe's shows would have to air as a different program. I'm willing to bet Shadoe has at least felt out stations to see if they would air them, but I doubt he would have any luck at the moment.

I am actually looking forward to the 1/15/83. Even though it's a repeat broadcast, it's a new one to me. The cool thing is that WMJJ Magic 96.5 Birmingham is listed as a "new" station on this program, and this station is what currently airs the classic AT40-The 80's episodes.

What about in the original run, where there were guest DJs for Casey? I hardly think that nobody listened, the weeks that he wasn't there.

The big thing here is that radio stations are paying for the shows and they are paying for Casey and the nostalgia. If there is ever a guest-host, surely some would complain( unless Premiere would ever consider offering 2 shows for the weekend, which I think could work..) Oh well.... for us 88&89 music fans, theres always Rick's 80's edition shows that might have those years on occasionally, if you can tolerate the comedic efforts he adds to the shows..lol

Asked and answered on the last page. And for that matter, asked and answered several times over the last year to this same individual!

Wow--the years ending in "3' are really popular this week--too bad they couldn't do Shadoe's show from 1993! Anyway, here are my choices for the Optional Extra Derby from 32 years ago:
--Twilight Zone-Golden Earring --Back on the Chain Gang-Pretenders --Breaking Us in Two-Joe Jackson --Hungry like the Wolf-Duran Duran
Tiebreaker/Oddball: Right Before Your Eyes-America (an AC-styled song that was probably a bit too mellow for pop radio because MTV's influence was beginning to be felt in a big way)

Premiere will never know that the listeners want to hear a non-Casey show, unless they run 1, and see the feedback that it gets.

Premiere is to be congratulated for the way they presented the 1980 year end countdown-Although there were a couple of minor edits,it was a great listening experience.

Not likely, unless Premiere completely rebrands/repackages the entire series, and there's no reason to suggest that would happen to the extent a few fans would want. As stated here in the not distant past, comparing the use of a guest host when the series was first run (when the chart was the priority) is completely different than selling a show based on the predominant talent, i.e. Casey. The name value of the guest hosts (and the relative infrequency and low number of guest hosted shows) simply doesn't have the same cache as Casey alone.
As originally aired, it was about the Billboard charts. Now, it's about 'Casey Kasem's American Top 40'. A big difference. If the current show were still about the charts, they'd have made an effort to broadcast them in something approaching chronological order to approximate chart movement from week to week (just as TV shows in syndication these days tend to rerun in broadcast or production order)
The likely sole exception to this has been Dick Clark, for what should be the obvious reason in that DC had a similar huge impact on the music and charts scene as Casey, as well as just a recognizable voice, and only one show in which to accommodate for a special airing. Perhaps Bob Eubanks or Wink Martindale would receive a similar honor (and that would be quite the stretch, as their contributions in the industry are debateably less than Dick/Casey's), but they'd have to, you know, die in order to it to be considered. No offense to guys like Dave Perry, Charlie VanDyke and Mark Elliot (amongst others), but they don't have the same name-value. They're all competent hosts, and I have nothing against their tenure as guest hosts, but... it just isn't feasible at this time, and airing a guest-hosted episode to 'test the waters' carries more risk than potential reward (again, as previously explained).
It's really not that hard to understand/comprehend, if you think about it.

Ok, here are my last two cents on this topic we've had... I wish Premiere would do this or least consider this: (and this might have been on a previous thread as well) For the 70s shows, they have offered two different shows if one is for 78 or 79 (unsure if they still do this).. Why not do this for the 88 or 89 shows too? They could offer them with the 80 and 81 shows.. Some rare stations have played a different, repeated show when these early years are offered I've noticed. Those are my final thoughts.

This one will be new to me as well, as it was during the several months after Sunny 101.5 dropped the show (or moved it to a new time, as they do indeed still carry the show) and before I got rid of the d**n dial-up Internet (as listening online would mean tying up the phone line for four hours). In fact, this was the last of those weeks, as I got wireless Internet a few days after this one originally aired. The 1/24/88 show from the following week was the first show I listened to on live stream - in fact, IIRC, it was WRVF which, of course, no longer carries the show.
