I tried to tune in to the 1986 countdown but heard the longest commercial block that I have ever heard: 12 minutes and counting! Almost every commercial was irritating to boot. OMG what station were you listening to? No wonder no one listens to radio anymore, who wants to listen to 12 minutes of commercials? That's the problem I have with a lot of terrestrial radio stations these days--too many commercials. There are some stations I have in my presets on my car radio, in which it feels like it's on a commercial 9 times out of 10 that I flip to it--in fact I am usually pretty surprised when I get a song or even a DJ talking. I know they have to make their money, but what's the point if it feels like all you hear on a station is commercials?

Has anybody out there ever used the Total transformation program? I'd be interested to hear some of your stories. Yeah my mum tried it - I used to hate her ,Now i'm planning to kill her

I can't remember for sure, but I think it was the station that has the '80s AT40 from 9-1 Sunday nights. And that commercial block was still going--who knows how long it lasted! And that Forest ad was on twice--at least!

KOOL 94.5 FM has the 10/3/81 playlist posted including the optional extras. They threw us a curveball in Hour #1: * Hour #1: "More Stars" by Stars On 45 (this song peaked at #55) * Hour #2: "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John * Hour #3: "Let's Groove Tonight" by Earth, Wind & Fire * Hour #4: "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by The Police Four of us guessed the last three songs correctly while no one guessed the Stars On 45 song. Edit: I had never heard "More Stars" until a few minutes ago. It's a collection of ABBA songs melded into one. There's a reason why this song only peaked at #55 ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoeUc1NQj6Y

^I think the Abba version is the European mix. There was another release for the U.S.

Guessing the fact that this is an Abba medley, and the number of Abba hits that will be heard on it is why Premiere chose it. Otherwise, this is a "song" that I imagine very few people have heard before. I do remember "Medley II" that followed up the original "Medley" (that hit #1) being played with a bunch more Beatles songs, but this one I don't believe I've ever heard before.

Yes, "More Stars" is that Abba medley. Almost sure! You are correct. "Medley II" by Stars On 45 was the second Beatles medley mixed in with other 60's hits. That song was released in July of 1981 and reached #67. "More Stars" is the ABBA medley which was released in September of 1981 and peaked at #55. Their only other Top 40 hit was their Stevie Wonder medley which peaked at #28 in 1982. Did you know that a spinoff group called The Star Sisters bubbled under at #107 with "The Star Sisters Medley" in July of 1983?

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess: 10/15/83 2nd Guess: 10/16/82
If next Saturday's date were October 12th, 1982 would have been my first guess but as it is, 10/16/82 will fall five days off the current date, which makes that show more iffy. Also, I am going to guess we get at least two more 1983 shows before the end of the year, and maybe a 3rd...

^Yeah, that's the version I remember too. It had lots of 60s R&B and hippy songs.

Back in November of last year, I gave a rundown of what shows had yet to be aired, shows that had already been aired, and so forth. Here is a rundown for October:
Guest hosted shows for October: October 2, 1982 (Marc Elliott) October 1, 1983 (Charlie VanDyke) October 26, 1985 (Charlie VanDyke) October 24, 1987 (Charlie VanDyke)
Already featured shows from October: 10/06/07 - 10/17/81 10/13/07 - 10/15/83 10/20/07 - 10/11/86 10/27/07 - 10/30/82
10/04/08 - 10/06/84 10/11/08 - 10/17/81 (R) 10/18/08 - 10/17/87 (10/25/08 had a November, 1986 show)
10/03/09 - 10/03/87 10/10/09 - 10/24/81 10/17/09 - 10/04/86 10/24/09 - 10/19/85 (10/31/09 had a November, 1983 show)
10/02/10 - 10/04/80 10/09/10 - 10/11/86 (R) 10/16/10 - 10/13/84 10/23/10 - 10/22/83 10/30/10 - 10/31/81
10/01/11 - 10/06/84 (R) 10/08/11 - 10/09/82 10/15/11 - 10/12/85 10/22/11 - 10/18/80 10/29/11 - 10/25/86
10/06/12 - 10/03/87 (R) 10/13/12 - 10/17/81 (R) 10/20/12 - 10/18/86 10/27/12 - 10/30/82 (R)
10/05/13 - 10/08/83 10/12/13 - 10/10/87 10/19/13 - 10/23/82 10/26/13 - 10/25/80
10/04/14 - 10/03/81
So that leaves: 10/11/80 (A somewhat remote possibility for next week, especially if they're trying to avoid repeats when humanly possible) 10/10/81 (This would indeed have been ideal for this week had they held off and, instead, run a 1985 show which we'll get to momentarily) 10/16/82 (This show is a strong possibility for the week of October 18) 10/29/83 (This is also a possibility for late October) 10/20/84 10/27/84 (Not sure if we'll hear either of the above, since we just recently had a 1984 show) 10/05/85 (Since this one hasn't yet been done, it would have been ideal for this week instead of 1981) 10/31/87 (Because it's so far removed from the last week in October, if we do hear this one, it will probably be the first week in November - I kind of doubt it)
Not sure what the possible scenario would be with these shows. Something tells me that we're going to hear lots of repeats in November. Of course, they may have decided not to do 1985 this week because they might be planning to run the yet-to-be-run November 2, 1985 show the first week in November.
What do you think? (Other than the fact that I'm reading into this way too much, LOL!)
