A couple weeks ago, Casey played "One Man Woman/One Woman Man" - introduced as by "Paul Anka and Odia Coates" - but Odia's voice was not heard on the version he played! I'm enough of an Anka fan to know where the solo version came from, anyone? its the LP version, he re-recorded this song as well as STRONGER THAN OUR LOVE as a duet for the 45 version.

Odia's voice can be heard on the L.P. version, but it's not as prominent as on the re-recorded version.

I noticed that Ladies Night was different from what I normally hear on the radio/my Kool and the Gang greatest hits CD. My recording of the song timed it at the five minute mark so I'm guessing it was the album version.

Occasionally they'd play a dance remix instead of the main version. Some of these were official remixes, but others were just plain bad (an electropop version of The Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang, for one).

How about the terrible version of "Pop Muzik" on the 1979 show last weekend?

I think AT40 played both the album version and the single version of "Everything She Wants."

Odd versions of New Order's "True Faith" on the 12/26/87 show, and particularly the 1/9/88 show (really did NOT like the remix used on that show). Of course there were a zillion remixes of that and other New Order songs over time, but the '87 release of "True Faith" was the version off the Substance LP, which was the best of all versions IMHO.
The version played on the 12/26/87 show was closer to the album cut that was heard on the 1/9/88 show--not sure what the heck that was.

How about Tubular Bells? The AT40 version has a different guitar ending unlike the versions you hear on YouTube. I like the AT40 version way better.

How about the terrible version of "Pop Muzik" on the 1979 show last weekend? OK, since it's been posted on the 70's thread--M's "Pop Muzik" with an odd remix on the 12/22/79 show. The question is--is that a remix from the late 80's/early 90's, and if so, how the heck did it make it's way onto an AT40 show from 1979?? Curious to know if Premiere did this...and if so, why? If it is a remix from the late 80's, it would still be over 20 years old, so not like they would be appeasing the younger audiences a whole lot.

It had to have been a Premiere thing, because I clearly remember hearing the original version of "Pop Muzik" on that same AT40 show when XM aired it some years back.

The 1/26/85 show has a different version of Do What You Do by Jermaine Jackson on it.

No fellows, this show was clearly "edited" , I own that same mix!!!! Listen closely as he back sells the record and how it was dubbed. This was remixed in 1989 called the "Hip Hop Pop Muzik". At the end you can hear a piece of the original .

I tried and tried last night to fix that Pop Muzik - I cut song from previous weeks to get same fidelity, but Casey posted differently on all. Then I tried using the original mp3, still sounded bad. The "hip hop mix" lays over Casey enough on both ends, can't make it sound right.

So strange about Pop Muzik--would love for one of the Premiere insiders to enlighten us on this subject, but I have a feeling that it isn't likely we will be able to get the real answer.
Funny that Premiere did this--seems much more like something SXM would do. Man did that hack up that 12/16/78 show--what a disappointment that was.
