Interesting tidbit: WFLZ was the very first affiliate mentioned by Casey in his second AT40 run (3/28/1998).

Mike, Regarding your list, I really didn't listen to AT40 all that much on WLS-AM, which began airing the show in 1982. I connected more to Chicago's WCFL which carried the show for only 6 months 10 years earlier in 1972. But thanks for adding my name to the list!

I only listened to countdowns on WXLK when I was in college in that area from 1993-97, which meant Casey's Top 40 (and Rick Dees).
For AT40, with both Casey and Shadoe, I used WRQX in the 80s and early 90s, until they dropped it in 1991, as well as WIHT for the current Seacrest version. (In my area, but before my time, WPGC aired AT40 from Day One until early 1983, when I was seven; then WRQX picked it up.)
Additionally, I can get Casey's 70s and 80s rebroadcasts from WLIF and WQSR without having to go online, though the scheduling often requires me to listen online to others.

These were the US-based stations mentioned in the first half of the February 13th, 1982 show: - KQPI, Idaho Falls, ID - now a country station
- WRPR, South Bend, IN - This was a misread (I slowed down the clip on Audacity just to be sure of this): the station's letters were actually WRBR and it's currently a station with an "active rock" format
- KRAL, Rawlins, WY - This one has an interesting story, so I'm just going to link to the Wiki entries for KRAL and its sister station KIQZ
- WSEZ, Winston-Salem, NC - the call letters are now WPAW (since 11/25/2006) and has had a country format since October 4, 2006 after spinning a format wheel. Between the time they were WSEZ and WPAW, they were known as WMQX; under those letters, they were an AC station (from 3/6/1987 to 1990) and an oldies station (from 1990 - 2006)
- KRLY, Houston, TX - mentioned on the 11/28/1981 show (for those that don't remember, its now KKRW with a classic rock format)
I only listened to the first two hours so someone else would have to get the other stations mentioned.

Actually, WLJY is now WHTQ (Hot Hits 96.7). They made the change two days after Xmas. Seacrest's AT40 still airs Saturday mornings.

These were the stations mentioned on the February 10, 1979 show: - WQID, Biloxi, MS - currently airs a mainstream urban format
- WQTW, Latrobe, PA - currently is a classic country station (and sometimes an ethnic/ talk station). The station was off the air for 18 months after a fire destroyed the stuidos on New Years Eve 1982.
- WPUB, Camden, SC - currently an oldies station
- WQEN, Gadsden, AL - currently a Top 40 station; I'm guessing they still air AT40 since Ryan Seacrest is listed as one of their on-air people
- WKEE, Huntington, WV - mentioned on 12/4/1982 and 1/14/1984
- WRAR, Tappahannock, VA - currently a Hot AC station
- WTOO, Bellefontaine, OH - they are now known as WPKO and currently have a Hot AC format
- WKNR, Battle Creek, MI - The call letters currently belong to an ESPN Radio affiliate in Cleveland; the rest of it I can't really pinpoint so I'll link to the following Wiki pages so someone else can have a go at it:
WDTW-AM; was WKNR from 1963-1972.
WHKW, was WKNR in Cleveland from 1990-2001
WKFR-FM, licensed in Battle Creek; this could be the actual station that aired the show in 1979 and not WKNR
- WPKE, Pikeville, KY - While looking for this one, I came across an AM and a FM station with the same call letters (the AM one is in Pikeville and the FM in Coal Run, a suburb of Pikeville). Assuming the one mentioned is the AM one, it's currently an oldies station.
There was only one new station mentioned on the show: KXSO in Redding, CA. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any record of this station whatsoever. Another case of misread call letters?

No, this was a real station, at 600 AM in Northern California, near Shasta Lake. I just checked www.radio-locator.com, and sure enough, it's gone. It must have gone dark. But I recall hearing it during drives through that area at least into the 90s.

I only listened to the first two hours so someone else would have to get the other stations mentioned. Don't mind if I do! KRPL Moscow, ID - Now an ESPN Sports station. Moscow's affiliate would become KZFN by at least 12/13/86. WSIZ - I had to Google to come up with anything for this one, and even then...all I'm going to offer is, read this: boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?action=printpage;topic=174501.0 They can give a better idea than I could, but I'm going to speculate that they've essentially moved to the current FM signal that exists today. WVIC Lansing, MI - Hey at40freak, here we go again! Let's see if I can't get this right. On March 1, 1995, the then-home to WVIC-FM, 94.9, flipped to Country, then Active Rock a few months later. While still AR, they moved to 92.7 on June 1, 1997. That station is now Classic Hits WLMI. If I remember the previous posts correctly, WVIC at one point was playing both Casey's AT40 and Rick Dees, and later just Dees. Turns out they did have an AM station though, 730 AM. That station is now WVFN, Sports Talk. WTON Staunton, VA - Also now an ESPN Sports station. There is an FM with the same letters, but they didn't launch until five days after last week's 1988 show. On an interesting note, both the AM and FM were supposedly up on eBay a few years ago. New to the American Top 40 family this week: - WWCH Clarion, PA - Now Country, and suspiciously not in either the 1982 or 1983 listening guides (though the next one is).
- WASL Dyresburg, TN - Now Mainstream Rock.

The AM station was WKNR at that time; WKFR was their FM sister, which would not inherit the Top 40 format until two years later (1981) - and they've had it ever since. They were even broadcasting the show into the Shadoe Stevens era, at least as late as 3/9/91 (though the location given that week was Kalamazoo). It appears that they're opting for Billy Bush instead these days, though. WKNR, on the other hand, is now WBFN, a Religious station. The new station this week was KSXO rather than KXSO, but vincem is correct - they've gone dark.

Oh yes, before I forget... Casey mentioned WMMR as the station that first gave Billy Joel wide exposure. They were progressive rock back in the 70s (never an affiliate), and over time evolved into first AOR and then Active Rock today. They also gave early exposure to Yes, Bruce Springsteen in the Philly area, local acts like The Hooters and George Thorogood, and early East Coast exposure for acts such as U2, Van Halen, The Grateful Dead (with a long-running slogan of "God Bless the Grateful Dead" before each record of theirs they played), and Pearl Jam in grunge's early stages.

But just for getting everything else straight, you win a year's supply of Tylenol.

That's what I get for going through that trouble? Why you little...! Actually, if you can make it their cold and flu medicine, I'll say you've got a deal.

I was thinking about the headache you must have after getting all that straight, but that'll work too.
