And then, Don Henley's "The Boys Of Summer" peaked in the WINTER of 1984-85! I consider the Henley song, like Seals and Crofts' "Summer Breeze" or Bobby Goldsboro's "Summer (The First Time)", both of which peaked in November, to be songs that have the word 'summer' in their titles but were not mainly about the season itself, as opposed to "In the Summertime", "Beach Baby", "Hot Fun In the Summertime", and War's "Summer", which are examples of songs about the season itself. A bit of a subtle difference, I know. And all four of those songs about summer peaked in September or October! I can only think of one summer-themed song that actually peaked before Labor Day: Lovin' Sp***ful's "Summer In the City", #1 for three weeks in August 1966.

On this week's 1978 show in maybe his boldest prediction yet, Casey said you could almost bet a red hot Andy Gibb was headed for a 4th straight #1. I actually like this song by Andy Gibb, An Everlasting Love, better than I like Shadow Dancing.

On last week's 1985 show Casey said they would be watching closely if Freedom would reach the top just like the last three from Wham! It would top off at #3.

In a reverse jinx on last week's 1974 show, Casey said the former school teacher looked like she was headed for a 3rd #1. Flack's 'Making Love would reach the top the next week.

On this week's 1980 show Casey said with 27 #1s, McCartney wasn't slowing down. After that he'd reach the top only twice more in duets with Stevie and MJ.

Casey jinxed Elton John in this week's 1975 show: Elton was about six months away from surpassing Elvis' 2nd-place standing in number of consecutive weeks in the 'Hot 100'. "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" would fall off the chart the week ending September 27, two weeks before "Island Girl" debuted.

Elt: Bad Blood was pole vaulting 32-66 the week SSMLT fell 69-33.

Sort of a reverse jinx for Def Leppard: On August 6, 1988 Casey commented on how much more common it was for a 4th hit song from an album to be the first to hit #1. Two months later, "Love Bites", the fifth hit on Def Leppard's album Hysteria, was the most popular song in the country and the album's first #1 song.

On the 1977 show, Casey mentioned #3 Higher & Higher would be gunning for #1 and it might happen the following week. Rita reached #2 but no Higher. On the same show Casey reversed jinxed Andy Gibb saying 'Everything was holding on strong at #2, trying to get to #1 again.

On this week's 80s show (8/15/87) Casey said of T'Pau's "Heart and Soul", "Good start on the chart" for the group. Their first hit had peaked at #4--and it was also their last. (On the US chart, anyway; a few months later "China In Your Hand" hit #1 in Britain.) I have to admit, I heard "China in Your Hand" late last week, and I must say, it sounded like a gloomy song, and sounded pretty sad. Plus, the song being played during a time when the demise of summer 2019 is fast approaching, thus making the song a gloomy reminder of times changing. The song got stuck in my head overnight late last week (and cost me a night's sleep) and into the next day, but seems to be disappearing from my head, even though it comes and goes, but the frequency in my head is getting less and less as the days progress. I guess I'm really glad I never downloaded the song in the first place, and I really am looking forward to September more than ever.

A reverse jinx from August 19, 1972: Casey said "Here are four guys who may be just a little bit frustrated. They're from New Jersey and for four weeks now they've been at #2 in the nation on the Billboard charts" as he led into Looking Glass' "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)". The following week Looking Glass finally got a turn at #1.

On this week's 1985 show Casey said every time McCartney plays a Beatles song, he has to pay a royalty to good friend Michael Jackson. Oooo Casey, why did you have to go there...!
