It was Humble Harve that put the Casey jinx on Elt 7/13/74. As Casey was filming Hawaii 5-0, Miller said it looked like Don't Let The Sun Go Down was about to give Elt another #1.

Why do you keep calling Elton John "Elt"?

Why do you keep calling Elton John "Elt"? He's a nickname kind of guy. In the past, he's referred to me as Peteski.

On this week's 1980 show, Casey said that every Andy Gibb single so far had hit the top 10. After "Desire", his then-current hit, he would never reach the top 10 again.

Just recently I listened to 1/31/81 where there is an unusual negative prediction from Casey, who said (correctly) that "Time Is Time" was likely to break Gibb's string of top 10 records.

Yes, he mentioned that although Gibb's duo records hadn't reached top 10, all of his solo singles up to that time had.

Sort of a vague jinx, but Casey said on 3/3/79 that Chicago had been together ten years and had yet to hit a sour note. After their then-current hit " No Tell Lover" (at its peak position of #14) their chart career dropped off sharply for a while, with no more top 40 hits for over three years.

On the 3-6-82 show, Casey said that ABBA was still goin' strong. 'When all is said and done', would be their last US top 40 hit.

On the 3-12-83 show, Casey said that 'Stray Cat strut' could be the next animal-named song to hit #1. It'd peak right there, at #3.

On this week's '70's show from 3/9/74, the #24 song was the great "Mighty Love, Pt.1" by the Spinners, which was #1 on the R&B chart. In the song's outro, Casey commented that the song was also heading for #1 on AT40. It would only peak at #20. On the same show Casey said Eddie Kendricks last record reached #1 and this one could get there as well. Boogie would stall right there at #2.

He also muffed on "Mockingbird", by Carly Simon and James Taylor; after stating that each of the then-married couple had solo #1's, that their duet hit might do the same. It only got to #5.

In last week's 3-12-77 show, Casey mentioned that The Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like An Eagle" was looking to be SMB's second straight #1, following up "Rockin Me" Nope. Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" would block out that possibility. IMO, one of the biggest Top 40 travesties of 1977. In early 1977, we had a round robin of #1's, yet "Fly Like An Eagle" only made it to #2. Of course there were ten more travesties at the end of 1977 due to "You Light Up My Life"
