Did they really censor the word "b i t c h i n' " in Billy Joel's "Big Shot"? Well, they sure did so here on the boards.

Also - something that after 40 years, I'm still unsure of. For several years, Casey pronounced ABBA with the "A" like 'cab'; on this show and many others, he changes it to "Ahh" when he says the band's name. Which is it?! I think "Ahh" is the band's preferred pronunciation. I heard a '74 episode where Casey announced he had been mispronouncing "Bachman" of Bachman Turner Overdrive ("Bach" is pronounced Back, not Bock) but I don't know if he ever made a similar statement about Abba.

Just noticed that "One Hundred Ways" by Quincy Jones & James Ingram skips - or is badly edited - at #29. About halfway thru the song on this week's 3/6/82 show. See if you notice it. Apparently, that version, which happens right after the bridge, was always played on AT40 - not sure how it went undetected, as it throws off the continuity of the song.

Interesting, I had just checked my copy of this song in the remastered original show and did not notice anything. Then I read you comment and heard it again. Still nothing. It goes from the bridge seamlessly to the vocal starting with...in your arms tonight... and he continues singing without any hiccups that I am aware of.

Notes from the 3-3-79 show This was one of the strangest shows I've heard in a while, although we did get some funny Casey this week CHART MOVEMENT- It was a rollercoaster ride. I started to feel dizzy before the show reached the Top 20! Some were drinking the Tab Cola and others took a Nestea plunge-OUCH! Billy "Just The Way You Are" Joel had the highest debut at #23 with "Big Shot." It looked to be a Sure Shot, but after peaking at #14 with only a 6 week stay inside the 40, it ended up being a Rim Shot IRONIC MOMENT- I wasn't made for dancing so I found Irony in a different scenario. Casey's answer to the child hitting the Top 40 before the parent was answered with Carla Thomas hitting before her father Rufus Thomas. Carla Thomas had a duet with Otis Redding back in 1967 with a song called "Knock On Wood" which was originally done by Eddie Floyd back in 1966. Of course, Amii's Stewart's "Knock On Wood" was on the countdown which would eventually outdo the predecessors by going all the way to #1 FUNNIEST MOMENT-That LDD in hour 3 by Louis from Shreveport, Louisiana to all the girls he loved before. Wasn't that too funny? If that were today, his Facebook and Twitter accounts would overload and destroy the Library Of Congress. If Chicago would have titled their song "Motel Lover" instead of "No Tell Lover", that would have been a more fitting song for that LDD which may have contained an STD with it. LOL

Not everyone. There must be 2 versions of this show out there..2 Premiere versions. I have now heard in the last 12 hours or so the song on the original show, this week's Premiere show and a youtube video of the song. They all sounded the same and were about the same length...4 minutes apiece on the first 2 and 4:20 on the youtube video. The 20 second difference is accounted for in the fade ending that AT40 cutoff somewhat but in normal fashion.

I caught the 1979 show on WODZ this morning and noticed Larry Morgan's closing credits were for the 80s show.

For anyone who's familiar with which stations play the 4-hour versions of AT40-70s (when there is one), can anyone tell me which radio stations (from 3 p.m. Sunday Eastern time or later) will be playing it? It seems each station I've tuned into today starts at the 2nd hour and only plays 3 hours worth. I've heard the last 3 hours of this Feb 1979 show but would like to hear the 1st hour, and have been out of luck with all stations I've tried so far on the 70s station list. From past experience, can anyone tell me which stations later today (it's almost 3 pm eastern time Sunday) will be airing the 4-hour show - and the time they start (some start the 4-hour shows one hour early, and some on their regular schedule. An advanced thank you.
BTW, I know there was a really old 70s station list link, then there was this updated one (which I've been using, even to today):
"AT40: The 70s Station List (AS OF: Aug. 4, 2014)"
Is there any more updated list than this one? Perhaps another (3rd) link started?

KOKZ, WTOJ, WPNC and WODC pretty consistently run the 4-hour 1979 shows. On a week with two different '70s choices available, the first three stations only run one show, so they might not always run the '79 show, especially if it is the B show, but they often do. WODC historically ran both '70s shows on weeks with two different '70s choices available; they have recently switched to running two shows every week, which may be any combination from that week's '70s and '80s offerings.
This week, all four of these stations are running the 1979 show. The broadcast times for the first three have already gone by, but WODC is running it at 7:00 eastern tonight, and WPNC re-runs their '70s show at midnight eastern Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I discovered this post a little too late, but where can I even read that WPAC plays AT40? The post I use for the list of '70s stations: at40fg.proboards.com/thread/3747/at40-70s-station-list-2014doesn't list WPAC. Is there some other list people are going by? In fact, I just checked and WODC doesn't show up on the list either. Where is this list that includes WPAC and WODC? I'm obviously looking at a very outdated one.
