Remembering One Bad Apple as the 23 rd number 1 song of the '70's and not being aired for some odd reason on 99x in NYC on the original broadcast. Wondering how big a hit it was in the "Big Apple" in the early 70s, to start with. Having been there at the time, I assure you it was played a lot on local radio in '71, even though the Big Apple term was not revived in popular usage until a tourist campaign that was just starting and hadn't yet captured the masses. (Source: www.barrypopik.com/index.php/new_york_city/entry/big_apple_1970s_revival_charlie_gillett_and_lew_rudin/ -- and my memory.)

Optional extra predictions for the 11/30/74 show:
* "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor * "Please Mr. Postman" by The Carpenters * "Me Eyes Adored You" by Frankie Valli
This is the chart in which "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" by BTO rockets back up the chart from #34 to #8 thanks to the success of the B-side of the single.

WRQN Bowling Green OH is starting hour one of the 1978 show right now!--10 AM Eastern, 7AM Pacific. WRQN's program director told me in an email that they repeat each show Sunday night/Monday morning from midnight - 3 p.m. Since they are playing the 4-hour show now (Barbra & Neil at #4 at 1:57 p.m. Eastern), they may play the full four hour show tonight. Just an idea if anyone still wants to record the show. WRQN has a tendency to start the show early and have it run late due to commercial loads.

Just FYI--I did have some problems with the stream 'sputtering' after about half an hour or so. Much like what I always get with WWIS' stream.

According to Milwaukee's Oldies, the Christmas show for 11/29 and 11/30 is "Casey's Holiday Edition 1." Does anyone know what show they are referring to?
On tap for December 6 and 7 for Christmas shows is, "Top 60 Christmas Countdown, Part 1."

Pete forgot to include a program error. In the outcue of 'Don't wanna live without it,' Casey said, 'don't wanna live without YOU'.

I heard the 11/25/1978 show when it originally aired. At that time when Casey first mentioned that that week's biggest's mover jumps up 31 notches, I was willing to bet money that it would be The Bee Gees' "Too Much Heaven" (which debuted on the entire Hot 100 at #35 the previous week). They were the biggest act around at that time and the song was their first hit after their phenomenal "Saturday Night Fever" hits run. Needless to say, I was surprised when it only moved up 4 notches to #31.
As for "Le Freak", I had no idea of the appeal that it had. Before it debuted at #37 the previous week, I had only heard the song a couple of times on a soul station. When I came to school on the following Monday morning, I told a lot of people about "Le Freak"'s big chart jump. Nobody that I talked to had even heard the song at that time. There was one Top 40 station in Meridian, MS that didn't start playing "Le Freak" until the week that it hit #1.

^That's interesting--and what makes AT40 and the memories associated with it so unique for each of us that listen to the classic shows now. One of the most fun things is to hear shows that I remember listening to the weekend they originally aired, the songs that went together on each show, Casey's stories, etc.
I hadn't started listening to AT40 yet, but I do remember "Le Freak" being played a bunch during that winter...
