With all the above-referenced stations I'll say again, radio is REAL good again this weekend! Looking forward to WBBG (a sister station) on Labor Day! And I get my KOKZ 80s fix every weekend these days! And any station playing 1970 on a holiday Saturday like this one, with some football on to boot, is #1 in my book! Go Canadians!

I'm trying to catch the 8/29/1970 show (that was, coincidentally, the weekend I was born!), but it appears the show that is actually being played this weekend is from 8/22/1970 instead. I started listening on KCLH, and the countdown being played is matching the 8/22/1970 cue sheet. Same thing now on the CKOC broadcast. Anyone know what's up with that?

The shows from 7/4/70 thru 4/24/71 were aired one week ahead. When these shows are re-broadcast, they always use the chart date to identify the show.

That is correct, perston. The cue sheets represent the following chart week from the one shown on them til May 1971. But to reassure you, the stations are airing the show corresponding to 8/29/1970 chart. Enjoy your birthday!

Thanks for the explanation! I suspect I was way too young to have noticed at the time.

I have been listening to 970 WGTK since # 17 and they joined Tell It To Me Brother by Kenny Rogers and The First Edition in progress. And now they had another long commercial break and played the last half of Lookin' Out My Backdoor by CCR

Now they just played a ton of commercials and then there was silence for a few minutes .Then played the last 10 second of Patches and I never heard Why Can't I Touch a You By Ronnie Dyson. It's dead air again now. After 5 minutes of nothing and more commercials Spill The Wine is on so they skipped Stevie Wonder and Sonny and Cher

This is standard operating procedure for that station. This has happened to me every time I have tuned that station in.

I learned it several years ago, and they're obviously no better now than they were then. I am SO enjoying the 8/29/70 show that I'm currently listening to it again on WMGN Madison. Heard it earlier this afternoon on Jewel 88.5 Toronto, who played all of the extras for an added bonus! "Groovy Situation" is on right now--great song!

The Gene Pitney song has got to be one of the oddest choices for an in-show extra ever: A song that only reached #16 only two years and a few months before the show date. Why not a better-known Pitney song like "Liberty Valance" or "It Hurts To Be In Love"? And no story before the song at all as with the other two. Just a weird choice.

During my recording of WBBG, they mention airing #1 songs of the 70s "all day Labor Day"

Milwaukee's Oldies 105.7 posts the year of the 70's show being played on a particular weekend. Last week, they changed their website on Sunday from 1974 to 1970. Just now, they changed their page from 1970 to 1978. Given that 9/2/78 was guest hosted, it looks like we will hear 9/9/78 next weekend. Here is the link to Milwaukee's Oldies Casey Kasem webpage: www.milwaukeeoldies.com/articles/casey-kasems-american-top-40-the-70s-476983/listen-to-casey-kasems-american-top-40-the-70s-11548821/If this is correct... optional extra predictions for the 9/9/78 show... and we're due for a curveball so I'll predict two curveballs: * "Lights" by Journey (never hit the Top 40 but a classic rock hit) * "Badlands" by Bruce Springsteen (never hit the Top 40 but a classic rock hit) * "Beast Of Burden" by The Rolling Stones (highest debut on this week's Hot 100 and a classic rock hit)
