Guys, is there a 'B' show, from later in the decade? Please let us know. Thanx! There are two alternatives: the third installment of #1 Hits of the 70s (covering February 1974-July 1975), and a "Y2K Special" of the "40 days that changed music" that Casey hosted at the turn of the millennium.

At first I was surprised to see another 1970 show, but the first two offerings this summer were not regular ones. July 4, 1970 was a tribute-period show and August 1, 1970 was a "B" offering. So I guess this is the first 1970 regular offering of the year. Heads up! A surprise from WODC this weekend. Yes, there will be 8/29/70, The #1 Hits of the 1970s Part 3 and "The 40 Days That Changed America." And another one! Wow! Where will all this fit? Find out Wednesday evening on www.933wodc.com on the Mike Eiland page!

Hey Mike,
Once the Top Hits of the 70s runs in it's entirety, do you ever foresee your station running them all either in 1 24 hour block on a holiday or maybe over 2 days on said holiday weekend? Just curious.

paul, I like that idea. I was hoping the shows would be distributed in a way where that would be feasible. If I recall correctly those shows have commercials that would have to be updated. Plus each show is overwritten by the new one. So Part 1 was overwritten by Part 2, and Part 2 will be overwritten by Part 3 when it comes. No shows are saved by us. I think the holiday weekend idea (for us the period between Christmas and New Year) would have room to do that, but the show would have to be re-distributed to us somehow. Nice suggestion worth looking into!

I was only thinking about 1,2,3...you mean the whole series. Maybe so after it completes. Again, the shows would have to be repackaged to us to facilitate.

WODC doesn't take out optional extras. They're there on the log, but if the commercial load puts them past the end of the hour, the system rolls over it to start the top of the next hour. Seems many weeks all the optional pieces have played, at least when I've heard the shows. Again, I don't sweat those as long as our listeners hear #40-1. At least online, the 2nd optional extra was skipped. It went from Barry White to commercials to the top of 3rd hour.

Oh! Good SFGuy. Thanks for letting me know that part. Online a different animal there. All parts of the shows are laid out for air each week, so we hope and pray the best for those listening both over-the-air and online!

A lot being offered this week for the AT4070s affiliates. I like! No "B" show officially but for the sake of organization I've categorized the AT4070s offerings this way:
"A" show - August 29, 1970 "B" show - "#1 Hits of the 1970s Part 3, February 1974 - July 1975" (4 hours) "C" show - (or "Bonus Show")- "The 40 Days That Changed Music" AKA "Y2K Special: The Most Memorable Events In Rock & Roll History"
And for WODC there will also be a: "D" show - TBA Wednesday 8:00PM on Mike Eiland blog at 933wodc.com (along w/dates and times of all offerings)

As someone who has heard the whole #1 Hits of the 70's series in one shot... if you value your sleep, at least block it over a whole weekend instead of a straight 24 hours. ;-)

The Y2K show is actually very, very good. Truthfully, probably among my favorites now and I didn't listen to it until a few weeks ago in my personal Casey Kasem tribute.

I have say, though, the actual countdown has never been cut into the times I listen online. It has cut into your intro. I would hear the end of an IHeartRadio commercial and it goes to something like "...click Mike Eiland" and whatever else you say.

Rob Durkee on the AT40fan.info specials page noted that the Y2K special aired on both AT40 and AT20 affiliates, so to those who asked, I'd figure it is a three-hour show, not edited. dL
