So I take it this is the A (and therefore the only) show? Yes, a 3-hour '78 show would be the only offering.

Spoiler alert. My 15 minutes of fame is in the first hour of this show, the first airing of which for this week is just starting up. What I thought might be the answer to my question was not. But did Bill Wardlow factor into this is what I thought about the last couple days. Upon further review, no the challenge flag revealed that he did not. Bill Wardlow's policy of keeping a hit at its position another week when it had a star the previous week may have kept a hit from climbing into the position. So was there a hit at #3 that was prevented from moving up to #2 during that time frame in 1977 by this policy and thus changing the answer to my question. The short answer is no. There was only one instance where a hit was peaking at #3 during that time frame. It was when "That's Rock & Roll" moved 4-3 and held there a second week. Both weeks "Nobody Does it Better" was at #2 with a star. So there is no way that Rock could have moved up. Then when Nobody held at #2 for an unstarred week, Rock had fallen and "Boogie Nights" replaced it at #3. So if there was a hit that could have replaced Nobody at #2 the week that it was unstarred, it would have been Boogie which peaked at #2 anyway. So that is why Bill Wardlow did not impact this situation with his chart policy. What happened in 1960 really is the answer to my question.

Yep! Where have all the other people that had questions answered gone? I can vaguely remember one other person on this board in the 13 years I have been on it that had a question answered on AT40.

WSQL's first hour time-filler song happened to be "Baker Street". Assume we'll hear it again at the end of hour 2 as the 'official' extra. They cut it before it ended though, as 'White Squirrel' is quite OCD about starting the hours on time.

WSQL's first hour time-filler song happens to be "Baker Street", which is in its second week on the Hot 100 at 67. A 'bonus extra'. They cut it before it ended though, as 'White Squirrel' is quite OCD about starting the hours on time. Should have used an instrumental instead. That's how some of us who couldn't "back time" correctly all the time when working in the business could hit the top of the hour news that started right at the top of the hour. I did that many a time. Now it's easier to back time because of computers.

Bee Gees should have done what Dolly Parton did. After Tavares' version of "More Than a Woman" dropped, they should have released their version.

That's what made the use of "Baker Street" today surprising. (update) "Baker Street" just ended as the hour two extra, and WSQL followed with Styx's "The Grand Illusion", which should pretty much fill the five minutes left before the top of the hour. (update 2) It did. Time for just the beginning of "Classical Gas", which they use quite often as their time-filler. "Gas" barely got past the intro portion of the song.

I think the Gibbs set a record in 1978 for most weeks that former #1 hits held their position in addition to all their other exploits. Both "Love is Thicker Than Water" and "Stayin Alive" which are the only former #1 hits in this show held their positions this week at 27 and 13, respectively. "How Deep is Your Love" held its position for many weeks after it fell from #1 too.

I'll go with 5/3/75 for next weekend. Show last aired in 2010.
Although 5/8/76 from 2020 would be a better option for the B show, my guess is that Premiere will opt for 5/5/79, which aired last year.

If they hold off on 1976 until the following week (5/15/76), then we'll get a show that hasn't aired since 2017.
