It's a SUPERSIZED Countdown! This weekend WTOJ / Magic 103.1 will air the February 18, 1978 countdown WITHOUT ANY SONG EDITS. By 1978, AT40 was regularly editing songs to make them fit inside a 3 hour show. Sunday morning at 9, you can hear the WHOLE countdown without any song edits. Ken, Still starting Sunday at 9 am ET? How many minutes over 3 hours does the show run? Thanks. About 25 minutes long

Premiere will more than likely air the very first show over the Fourth Of July weekend-A 50th anniversary celebration wouldn't be out pf the question either-It'd be great to hear Mike & Kerri Kasem discuss their father's legacy. I wonder if the AT40 50th. Anniversary special could also invite surviving AT40 guest hosts of the past? I know Mark Elliott, Charlie Van Dyke, David Perry, Ed McCann, Joe Ciperao, Adrienne Walker, Bob Eubanks, Wink Martindale, Martha Quinn, Jack Wagner, Keri Tombazian, and Bumper Morgan may be still alive. Even music stars who guest hosted AT40 - Daryl Hall and John Oates, Debbie Gibson, Donny Osmond, Matt and G. Nelson, Richard Marx, and Jody Watley - might give happy 50th. to AT40 wishes. A special like this would make more sense as a 1 or 2 hour special for the AT40 70s and 80s affiliates, similar to what was offered after Casey passed away. Nothing like this would be at all appealing or relevant for modern day AT40, but a potential special like this, while incredibly unlikely, would make more sense for stations still airing Casey.

The supersized first hour ran right at one hour, compared to 56:50 for KOKZ yesterday. Granted some of the difference might be commercial load. The Supersized countdown is a WTOJ exclusive unless another station did it on their own. The show should run about 25 minutes long. And BTW, since I left the Stevie Wonder extra in the countdown where it normally appeared, there will be no extra in the 3rd hour. got it..thanks..my copy was exactly 3 hr 25 min...edited out the commercial load for a run time of 2 hrs 44 min..btw there was no intro from Premier at the beginning

I second this, although I would love to hear it, there is NO way in Hades the current AT40 would have this much TALKING in a show, with the short attention span listeners have today. Heck, half the countdown now is no-nuttin' gimmicks. I can only hope maybe Shadoe, who's still with us, gets a shout out and a liner message. I do like the idea of a separate special sent to 70s and 80s affiliates only though.

Has 2/21/76 aired previously? I think it last aired back in 2016. Casey played the B-Side to Elton John's "Grow Some Funk Of Your Own" which was "I Feel Like A Bullet In The Gun Of Robert Ford" which I like better.

They put up last weekend's 1978 show - that's good. Hope they can get this going consistently again.

According to jdelachjr2002, the optional extras for 2/21/1976 are the same as 2016:
"Mr. Tambourine Man" - The Byrds "Boogie Fever" - The Sylvers (#74) "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" - Stevie Wonder

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 2/23/74 2nd Guess - 3/3/79
It's a ways off what will be the current date of February 29th, but it's feasible for a few reasons...1) this week's show is a February 21st show, so it wouldn't be out of order, and 2) it hasn't been aired since 2009. 1979 is the only other year that has yet to be played yet in 2020, and 3/3/79 was last played in 2016. If not these two, 2/26/72 would have a decent shot of airing next weekend, as would 3/1/75.
BTW, since this is a leap year in which the 29th falls on a Saturday, we get five Saturdays in February--something that only happens every 28 years. It's not the first time in the series we've gotten five February shows in a year however--that's happened twice before in the 70's series (2008 and 2015). FWIW, in 2014 Premiere played only three February shows (the only time that's happened so far)...

It's another Supersized AT40 this weekend. There are some hefty edits in this weekends AT40 show which have been removed for this weeks presentation on WTOJ. Sunday morning at 9 AM.

While extending these unfairly edited song gems, I also wouldn't mind if you'd cut 'The White Knight' down to a more tolerable 30 seconds or so. Man, that thing is excruciatingly bad...

Good thing this was posted in advance, as now this will be the third year in a row we've had a March 1979 show when I'm out of the country. So I just booked an intercity (Copenhagen to Berlin) bus trip at a time when I can TuneIn to KOKZ's four hour presentation.
And this isn't too close to mid-April, making the unplayed 4/14/79 an option, though we could also get one the two other Casey-hosted shows from that month as well.
