OMG, can we just skip this weekend so we can get to next weekend's amazing shows?! Hopefully WTOJ/Ken will give us another supersized 1978 offering! Working on it.

Listened to 2/9/74 yesterday-For the most part,it was a good show-The lone exception was "Seasons In The Sun",which I characterize as a musical suicide note. The original "Seasons" lyric, by Jacques Brel, is very different. It's a middle-aged man who knows he is dying and says goodbye to everyone who has wronged him -- his wife who cheated on him, his business partner who embezzled from him, etc. It's a *dark* song. Then Rod McKuen came along and made it sappy, made worse by having a young guy sing it.

It's a SUPERSIZED Countdown! This weekend WTOJ / Magic 103.1 will air the February 18, 1978 countdown WITHOUT ANY SONG EDITS. By 1978, AT40 was regularly editing songs to make them fit inside a 3 hour show. Sunday morning at 9, you can hear the WHOLE countdown without any song edits.

At the close of the 2/9/74 show,Casey mentioned that he was on the Dean Martin celebrity roast-He was dressed up as Adolph Hitler-I believe there's a video of that on You Tube. Regarding the music, 2/9/74 is notable for a one-week wonder, Art Garfunkel's "I Shall Sing." A rare upbeat song from him. Songwriter Van Morrison didn't release his version of this at the time, but it turned up on the deluxe reissue of his 1970 album Moondance a few years ago.

This week's presentation (Weekend of February 15-16, 2020): February 18, 1978. This show last aired the same weekend as 2/16/80 (February 14-15, 2015). Optional extras at that time: Hour #1: "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" - Linda Ronstadt (#41) Hour #2: "Feels So Good" - Chuck Mangione (#76) Hour #3: "You Haven't Done Nothin'" - Stevie Wonder (original AT40 extra) These will be reused this week.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 2/23/74 2nd Guess - 2/26/72
Just like in the 80's series, next week's show feels like a no-brainer (though not quite as much). 2/23/74 hasn't been played for 11 years ... suffice it to say it's due.

Since 2/9/74 was offered just 2 weeks earlier, I think it'll be something else. Maybe 1976 since that was last heard the first week of January, or 1979.

Since 1974 was the "B" show two weekends back, it certainly isn't out of the question.

As predicted, WPAC played 1974. However, the website player still has the 1977 show from 2 weeks ago.
