I miss CountdownMike's station. They would be a sure shot for 4hr 1979. The 10/13 features the rarest of all themes. Which is? Don't leave us hanging...

Optional extras for September 30, 1978… Hour #1: Just What I Needed – The Cars Hour #2: Straight On – Heart Hour #3: Baby Hold On – Eddie Money Listening to KLFM (Australia), and for Hour 1 "My Best Friend's Girl" was the optional extra, and announced as such by Larry. Maybe it was changed because Ric Ocasek sang it, and not "Just What I Needed"? And Larry didn't intro the Eddie Money extra; a Casey story was used instead.

That would be WODC in Columbus,Ohio. I was referring to "...the rarest of all themes." Not sure what that means. WODC, in Columbus, Ohio, is where "Countdown Mike" (Mike Eiland) works. They used to play the 70s and 80s AT40s, and made a real effort to be complete about it. When there were two shows they'd play both, and the complete four hour 70s countdowns were played when offered. Eventually the format changed and they turned to just one show a week, usually from the 80s, and then dropped the Casey rebroadcasts altogether early this year. Mike Eiland was likely as disappointed as we were, as he often wrote of AT40 on his blog and even cut his own announcements explaining which AT40 they were playing.

Man, Love Is In The Air seems like it barely lasted a minute and it sounded like it just kept repeating Love Is In The Air 😄 And as I was typing they just had a huge edit on Reminiscing

Yes, I am familiar with WODC and Mike Eiland. What I am asking is what is meant by '...the rarest of all themes' in the original post.

In September 1979 AT40 changed its theme music, and at first the new, synthesized theme ("Dark Disco" some have called it?) was used for both the opening and closing. After only a few weeks they went back to using "Shuckatoom" to open the show while the new music was used for the closing, and it stayed that way until January 1984.

To expand a little, "Shuckatoom" was brought back on the 10/20/1979 show. It wasn't heard on the 9/22 to 10/13 shows (four weeks). I'm listening to the 1979 shows in order; just finished the 9/22 show yesterday.
