The Beatles were hot again in 1976-In April,Lorne Michaels the creator & producer of "Saturday Night Live" offered the guys a check for $3,000.00 for a one-time appearance-George Harrison was the musical guest on "SNL" the evening of 11/20/76-"Got To Get You Into My Life" was a popular track on the 1966 album "Revolver"-Ten years later,Capitol Records released a two-record set called "Rock & Roll Music"-"Got To Get You Into My Life" made the charts & peaked at # 7-Not too shabby for a band that split up six years earlier.

Capitol put a big marketing push into the Beatles catalog to coincide with the "Rock and Roll Music" LP release. I purchased the rest of their Capitol catalog than summer, to go along with the 1973 'Red' and 'Blue' greatest hits albums, "Abbey Road", and Sgt. Pepper", which I already owned.

Strictly based on the quality of their stream - what AT40 the 70's station(s) have the best stream?

Strictly based on the quality of their stream - what AT40 the 70's station(s) have the best stream? KOKZ is my #1 for the 70's (especially using the URL for the AAC stream over a player app like VideoLAN) WTOJ is very good too, and is practically guaranteed to play all of the extras WODZ has good sound quality, but doesn't always play all the extras and has some overlap issues coming in and out of commercial breaks, etc.

Hits 100 Aruba has a good sounding stream. Unfortunately, they dropped their weekend airing of the 70's show and only play it Tuesday night.

KOKZ is good but they don't always play all the extras. In fact, they normally miss one. This past weekend was a rarity that all 3 were played. Even the last 4 hour 70's show they missed one extra.

If my Saturday mornings are overwhelmingly busy, I tune into KLFM on Friday evenings. Their HD streams are pretty good, and sometimes I'll tune in early to hear some of the oldies in which some I've never heard before. I know in Bendigo, Victoria Australia it is Saturday morning before AT40, but that music reminds me of Friday night drive-in music. I like the radio station jingle at the beginning of every hour. It definitely sounds vintage to me.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 6/17/78 2nd Guess - 6/12/71
Could be either of these, but it's now been more than three months since the last '78 show. 6/17/78 has been played twice, but the second time it was played in 2013, it was because the originally scheduled show (6/10/78) got pulled at the last minute (we know this only because of the infamous show schedule leak of that year). 6/12/71 was last aired in 2010 as an 'A' and in 2013 as a 'B' (to 6/16/79), and 1971 is coming due as well...but I'll guess '71 gets played the weekend of either June 22nd or 29th.

I recall buying the Rock n Roll package that Capitol put out in the summer of 1976, after having purchased the Red & Blue albums a year or two earlier. I finally broke down and bought the whole Beatles catalog after a neighbor let me listen to most of his collection, I originally tried to tape his LP's but they were so worn out I wanted to listen to the songs on newer sounding copies. Of course, I have bought two sets of CD's since then.

Just saw on Facebook where "Humble" Harve Miller passed away this week at 85 years of age. Harve, of course, was the 4th person other than Casey to host American Top 40 when he subbed for the July 13, 1974 program. Wondering if Premiere will offer up that show as a bonus or 'B' show in July? Would be cool if they did.
RIP Humble Harve...

Humble Harve also hosted a show called "The National Album Countdown" which featured the top selling allbums in the country-The program used the chart that appeared every week in Record World magazine-In my area,it was heard every Saturday on WICC in Bridgeport,CT-That was probably in 1976 or 1977.

A tidbit on this weekend's upcoming 6/12/1976 show: This is the last show to feature the original theme (albeit softened) to open hours 2 and 3. The 6/19/1976 show used "Shuckatoom" for the show open as well as hours 2 and 3. That wouldn't change until the 9/22/1979 show, when "Dark Disco" briefly replaced "Shuckatoom" as the show open, but remained as closing theme and hours 2-4 opening through 1/7/1984.

WTOJ's stream used to be very good too, but lately the quality has been average at best. WJJR has an excellent stream, but it is not setup on DAR.fm. I submitted the url I listen with via the station's web page - but DAR.fm said it wouldn't work. I used KLFM to record the 'B' show 05.15.71 - but it sounded brassy with high-end pops/clippings.

I recall hearing the NAC a few times during the 1970's. I know the show continued until the mid 1980's, which was beyond the demise of the Record World chart used for the show--so I wonder what chart was used for the last few years of the program?
Also, this is one of the hardest shows to find copies of so you can listen to it today.
