KLFM could go with '72. The '79 show (last 3 hours) has been played to death on the Iheart Casey channel. I think KLFM will definitely go with '72 over '79.

This weekends 1978 countdown on WTOJ will be presented WITHOUT any edits in the songs. Now that's what I'm talking about. Good job on this! There were a couple rough transitions, but that is a small price to pay to hear an entire song vs the butchered 1:58 KTEL version of Too Hot To Trot in the original show. Stream sounded good as well. Only drawback was having to get up early to listen here in the Western time zones. Hopefully more of these chopped up shows will get the expanded treatment. This was such a good idea, hope it can be done next time we have a 1978 show !

Optional extras for 2/19/72 back in 2013 were:
Hour #1: "Glory Bound" - The Grass Roots Hour #2: "Duke Of Earl" - Gene Chandler (original AT40 extra) Hour #3: "The Nickel Song" - Melanie

"(What A) Wonderful World" was originally a hit in 1960 for Sam Cooke-Five years later,it would reach the top ten in a version by Herman's Hermits-The third time around it would be a hit for Art Garfunkel,Paul Simon,& James Taylor-We heard their rendition on this week's countdown from 2/11/78-Casey noted that this remake was one of the tracks on Garfunkel's then current album "Watermark"-Watermark was also the name of the company that syndicated "American Top 40".

Casey noted in this week's 1978 show that Yvonne Elliman was from Hawaii and mentioned several other artists from Hawaii. How could he have forgotten The Divine Miss M!!

I like "The Nickel Song" and (especially) "Glory Bound" a lot but they are both pretty far on the obscure side.

The Premiere version should re-air on WMGN Magic 98 this Saturday at 7am Eastern Time. That's probably your best bet. Speaking of K-Tel, this week's 79 show reminds me of Gold Rush 79-the grooves are a little bit wider.

I think it was Larry Morgan that noted Yvonne Elliman was from Hawaii and listed others during the intro of the 2nd hour extra of the 2/11/78 show. "If I Can't Have You" didn't debut on AT40 until 2/25/78.

Looks like next week's show likely must be either 2/24/1973 or 2/23/1974, neither of which has been played for at least a decade (since 2008 and 2009). Those years along with 1972 are the ones not played as A's yet in 2019, but with 1972 this week's B it'll have to wait until March.

Is 2/17/79 a previously unaired show? It previously aired in 2014. The optional extras then were: Hour #1: "Superman" - John Williams (#100) Hour #2: "Black & White" - Three Dog Night (original AT40 Archive) Hour #3: "Heart Of Glass" - Blondie (#84; debuted) Hour #4: "Big Shot" - Billy Joel (#58) Optional extras will be the same. For the "B" show, here's the optional extras: Hour #1: "Everyday People" - Sly & The Family Stone Hour #2: "A Horse With No Name" - America Hour #3: "Kind Of A Drag" - The Buckinghams The original extra "Duke Of Earl" by Gene Chandler stays in the show.
