As expected, WMGN is going with 1978. I still don't understand why they ALWAYS go with the later year when there's a choice. They play '70s all day Saturday and it's not like they ignore '70 thru '74 then.

KOKZ went with the 1978 show seems lately they are avoiding the early 70's That station's music policy is a bit weird - first they won't play a show from 1987 or 1988 and now the won't play a early 70s one

According to the AT40fan website, 6/10/78 has not been played yet. 6/10/72 is also a possibility as the last 72 show to be featured was 4/1/72. Well I've got good news and bad news. Good news: Both years are correct for next week. Bad news: 6/10 is off by one week on both counts. The "A" show is new, and is from 6/17/1972: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-17-72.pdfThe "B" show is at least a third-time airing, and is from 6/17/1978: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-17-78.pdfThe 1978 extras are the same as previously: Jackson Browne - Stay The Cars - Just What I Needed Walter Egan - Magnet and Steel As for 1972...well...due to the nature of those extras I'll give those now as well. Since the 80s is also a 1984 repeat, this means a week off from guessing. Extras are: The Rolling Stones - Rip This Joint (from the week's #1 album Exile on Mainstreet, and this week's sole original extra) The Young Rascals - Groovin' (the sole original extra from the following week) The Beatles - I Feel Fine (I have no earthly idea where this would have been pulled from) Due to this collective slate, giving guessable clues for these (let alone for The Beatles!) that would also not have been giveaways would have been next to impossible. It's been buried back a few pages... ever since the next weeks show has been announced a few days earlier than usual, there's been some overlap in the discussion of 'this weeks' show.

Not sure if this was answered as I was away for several days and don't feel like going back through all the posts but I feel fine. Anyway, that song was played once in the 70s on AT40. It was on the 40 most extraordinary British acts special aired on 4/6/74. So if they only pull these type extras from 70s shows, that is where the song was pulled from. If they also pull 70s show extras from 80s shows, then there are other possibilities.

What happened to extra songs post for June 17, 1972? They're re-listed directly below your question. Beatles "I Feel Fine" (listener question answer), Stones "Rip This Joint" (from #1 LP), and Young Rascals "Groovin'" (#1 five years earlier)

No love for little jimmy osmond from premeire this week Thankfully, no. One verse and chorus from him is more than enough! Related edit question: Did AT40 ever play "Layla" in full during it's chart run?

Funny that Abigail radio is playing 'Use ta be my girl', right now, as it'll come up at #12 in the 6-17-78 show.

Here's a goof: WEZG/"Abigail" is currently playing "Use Ta Be My Girl" as an end-of-hour time filler. Someone didn't check to see what's coming up!
