Anyone know if Casey mentioned in any of its other 3 weeks that the Dr. Demento show was the reason for the song "Shaving Cream" to chart after 28 years.

This morning during the 1975 broadcast KOKZ played 5-3, then after commercials repeated 5-3, repeated the commercials, played the final extra, then switched to regular programming. Didn't someone say they did something similar just a few weeks ago?

For some reason, KVWF chooses to play its OWN extras at hour's end. Makes you wonder what they've got against Premiere's ones.

Sigh. One of my regular go-to stations, KCLH, screwed up tonight. Instead of the segment with numbers 18 through 14 from 4/19/75, they played the same segment from last week's 4/10/71 show.

Wanted to say what a treat it was to hear Neil Sedaka's Lennon-inspired "The Immigrant" as an extra -- his finest hour, IMHO.

For some reason, KVWF chooses to play its OWN extras at hour's end. Makes you wonder what they've got against Premiere's ones. That's why they're called OPTIONAL extras. Premiere is doing stations a courtesy in providing them. No station is obligated to play them even if they have the time to do so.

Milwaukee's Oldies 95.7 is confirming that next weekend's show is from 1978. Link: www.milwaukeeoldies.com/articles/casey-kasems-american-top-40-the-476983/listen-to-casey-kasems-american-top-11548838/What we don't know if it's 4/22/78 (new) or 4/29/78 (played in 2013). IF it's the 4/29 show, then these were the optional extras: * "Take A Chance On Me" by ABBA * "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty * "Every Kinda People" Robert Palmer IF it's 4/22, then we get to guess what the optional extras are. I'll throw my predictions in here, and if it's 4/29, I'll use the edit button to wipe out my picks! My optional extra predictions for the possible 4/22/78 show are: * "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" by Meatloaf * "Dance With Me" by Peter Brown with Betty Wright * "You Belong To Me" by Carly Simon Mike (or anyone else)... any updates regarding which 1978 show will be aired? By the way, when I first searched for the Oldies 95.7 website, the site had a May 31 posting saying that the next show would be from 1971. The 6/5/71 episode has never been aired so that may be a good possibility for the first weekend in June. I'll predict extras, these could apply to either: Linda Ronstadt - Tumbling Dice Heart - Heartless Carly Simon - You Belong To Me (I'm sure this would be an ideal situation for JessieLou)

Hi,at40fansince1984,Casey mentioned that Dr.Demento was the main reason that "Shaving Cream" was on the charts-Dr.Demento found that record at a thrift shop in downtown Los Angeles & started playing it on his program-The listener response was so overwhelming that Vanguard Records purchased the original master & released it as a single-"Shaving Cream" was only played on one NYC station which was the now defunct WNBC-At the time, they were carrying Dr.D's program on the weekends.

Probably 4/22/78. Premiere today probably isn't going to rerun as a standalone show something that they played just two years ago (at least three years are apparently needed for that), and three hour AT40s from 1973-78 usually aren't paired with "B"s.

Mike (or anyone else)... any updates regarding which 1978 show will be aired? Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on confirmation myself (and I've love to know what the hell the holdup is...!). Barring a last-minute change in plans - one that would likely see a change in year, methinks - I would defer to what's been posted above. With one station saying for sure that it'll be 1978, and 4/29 having aired two years ago, that is indeed not likely to be repeated again as a stand-alone.
