Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess: 4/3/76 2nd Guess: 4/3/71
I'm a little stumped...there is no real clear cut choice for next week's show. 4/3/71 was aired as a B show last year, which is why I'm making it the 2nd guess. 4/3/76 was aired in 2012, but then again, so was 3/31/73. Not really any other year would make sense, unless they strayed quite a bit from the current date...

Again, don't know the dates just yet.

Hoping for a 1979 show sometime soon, been a long time, it seems... sadly, the logical show for next week was guest-hosted.

Turns out both of next week's shows were guessed; the other was in the show-guessing thread. Next week's "A" show previously aired in 2011. It's 4/1/1972: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-01-72.pdfNext week's "B" show previously aired in 2012. It's 4/3/1976: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-03-76.pdfNow, the extras for 1976 remain the same as in 2012. Those were: Marvin Gaye - I Heard it Through the Grapevine (original AT40 extra) John Sebastian - Welcome Back The Shirelles - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (original AT40 extra) But, one of the extras for 1972 has been changed compared to its 2011 airing. Those were: Cat Stevens - Morning Has Broken Jackson Browne - Doctor My Eyes Connie Francis - Don't Break the Heart That Loves You (original AT40 extra) So, your mission for this week - should you choose to accept it - is to figure out what's changed, and with what. Good luck!

In honor of the original chart date and since I never play to win anyway...
OE predictions for 4/1/72:
Connie Francis stays in the show and the extras are...
Chantilly Lace - JERRY LEE LEWIS Cotton Jenny - ANNE MURRAY Jambalaya (On The Bayou) - THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND

Whoa itsyspider and Mike! This is great news!! WODC's first AT4070s broadcast was Sunday, April 3, 2011 and this was the show! If I'm not mistaken Casey thanks Dick Clark for hosting for him "last week." Of course, that show ended up getting played after Clark's death.

I'm guessing that the 4/1/72 optional extras that weren't part of the original show were voiced by Larry last time, while this time one or both will be Casey-voiced.

I choose to accept it... but if I get my pick wrong, does that mean I self-destruct in 5 seconds? Optional extra predictions for the 4/1/72 show: * "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens * "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne * "Look What You've Done For Me" by Al Green

Some artful hint-dropping by Casey in the 3/31/73 show, when he answered a question about if a song had ever dropped from #1 to #2 and returned to the top (which must have been from a relatively new listener, as that had happened just seven months earlier), and indicated that they might want to stay tuned until the end of the show, when "Killing Me Softly With His Song" did just that. One might easily have guessed that to be so, as "Killing..." was the only plausible return chart-topper that week. (Maybe the letter should have been saved for the lead-in to #1?, so Casey wouldn't have had to say all those "maybe"s?)
IMO, that also means that Casey's claim at the start of the show that there was a "brand new #1" wasn't really true.

SERIOUSLY?? 1976 AGAIN?? PREMIERE, YOU DID 1976 IN THE BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY AND THEN AGAIN TWO WEEKS LATER. ON TOP OF THAT, YOU DID THE 1976 YEAR-END IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. COMPARE THAT TO 1979 THAT WAS ONLY DONE ONCE AND 1973 WAS DONE TWICE. I AM SICK OF HEARING THE SAME 1976 SONGS EVERY SUNDAY MORNING. WE DO NOT NEED TO HEAR THE THEME FROM S.W.A.T. OR LONELY NIGHT (ANGEL FACE) ON A WEEKLY BASIS. SWITCH IT UP. DO OTHER YEARS. THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE YEAR IN THE 70'S. GOD.

Also, "Theme From Swat" is not in this particular AT 40 1976 countdown (much to your relief, I'm sure)

Actually, 1976 is the "B" show, so like you will be hearing the 1972 show. Unless you listen to Magic 98 in Madison. Listening to this week's show, it was amusing to hear Casey talk-up "You are the Sunshine..." and right after he says "here's Stevie Wonder"... we hear the voice of Jim Gilstrap.
