It took almost a year but I finally got all 3 show predictions correct. Now what do I do for an encore? Get all of them wrong! Anyway, one of the longest droughts came to an end partly as a result of that. Here is the updated list of all the 20 week or longer droughts on the 3 series.
1. SXM 8/21/76 - 5/7/77........37 weeks.........2010-11 2. Pre. 5/6/72 - 12/16/72......32 weeks............2009 3. Pre. 6/22/74 - 1/4/75........28 weeks.........2009-10 3. SXM 3/1/75 - 9/13/75........28 weeks...........2011 5. SXM 11/18/78 - 5/19/79....26 weeks........2009-10 5. SXM 11/10/73 - 5/11/74....26 weeks........2010-11 7. SXM 7/27/74 - 1/18/75......25 weeks........2009-10 8. SXM 1/7/78 - 6/17/78........23 weeks...........2010 9. Pre. 10/6/84 - 3/2/85.........21 weeks........2011-12 10. Pre. 9/14/74 - 2/1/75.......20 weeks........2007-08 10. Pre. 3/11/78 - 7/29/78.....20 weeks...........2010
And the longest current drought is on SXM at 10 weeks since they played a late 74/early 75 show (the top 100 of 1974). So no even medium length droughts going on at the moment as all 3 series have played every eligible year in the last couple months. A perfect scenario IMO. Ok, as for next week's shows, I don't think that drought on SXM will end just yet, not that it needs to...lol
80s......3/8/86 70s......3/12/77 SXM......3/6/71

Here goes for shows the weekend of March 10th:
80's: 3/12/88 70's: 3/12/77 SXM: 3/13/71 (Chart Date)
The Premiere and SXM 70's shows seem like a good bet, whereas the 80's show is a little trickier. I would have guessed 3/10/84 if it weren't a Charlie Van Dyke show but even so, there are more than a few reasonable guesses for this one.

Funny that you mention 78 franky as you will see. Anyway, it is a bit early to start these predictions. Some people may not know all the shows that are being played this week. Anyway, congratulations to wahoo who got both Premiere shows correct and got 2 out of 3 this week. If he had known that the SXM show he predicted was played last year, he might have gotten the trifecta!
Ok, franky mentioned 1978 and Premiere has a streak on the line next week. There are 7 consecutive shows starting with 2/11/78 in which the Bee Gees have 3 songs in the countdown. And Premiere has played one of those shows the last 4 years running. In order for that streak to continue, they have to play a 78 show next week because the following week would be on the anniversary of the 3/25 show that they played last year and that's the last show that the Bee Gees have 3 songs. The 80s series is the most obvious IMO since the only year in which a regular show has not been played is 1983 so I will predict that year to be played. Finally our good buddies at SiriusXM may be itching to do a fake show from 1970 and this could be the week to do it. After playing 1975 this week, they can go to either end of the decade. So if they go to the early end, that fake show might happen!
80s......3/19/83 70s......3/18/78 SXM.....3/17/79

If only for my wife's birthday, I'm looking forward to March 20, 1976 in the coming weeks.

Here we go for the weekend of March 17th:
80's: 3/19/83 70's: 3/16/74 SXM: 3/17/79
Gotta be '83 next week, doesn't it? Three good possibilities for the 70's show, but we'll go with 1974. SXM, well a tough one to pick here, but it could be time for another 1979 show.

So does that mean it is a bad, better, best order of predictions this week....wahoo being the best since he got all 3 right last time. We shall see. I am going with the same show I predicted last week for the 70s and a year I predicted 2 weeks ago for the 80s. On Sirius, I don't think they would do a fake show for a few weeks since it would be too close to the date of last year's fake show. Of course, that's logical thinking which may not apply to them....lol
80s......3/22/86 70s......3/18/78 SXM......3/20/71

Here we go for the weekend of March 24th:
80's - 3/28/81 70's - 3/27/76 SXM - 3/20/71 (chart date)
Still wondering about the 80's show...not sure about an '86 show, though '86 would be a likely candidate this week as well.

Ok, time for another set of predictions. Not gonna be easy this time. The 70s show will buck a trend no matter what show they choose. By playing 3/31/73 this week instead of next when the dates are 3/31 and 4/1 makes that a guarantee. When the weekend is split between 2 months like that, they have played a show from the month that is ending every such weekend since the end of 2008. But they will have to backtrack in the month to do so since the only other show on 3/31 is in 1979 and it has already been said that 1979 will not be played next week. They have backtracked in dates a few times over the years but it has been nearly 2 years since they went back by more than one day. And they would have to do that since the only show for 3/30 is in 1974 and that year was just played. The third and final item to look at are special shows. Only once have they have played a 70s show special that featured several 50s/60s songs. Bottom line something is going to happen next week that has not or rarely ever happens. I'm going with a special being played. The other 2 series I am going with the year with the longest current drought.
80s......3/31/84 (a week after 3/31/73 is played in the 70s) 70s......4/1/78 movie hits special SXM.....3/27/71

And, as of this writing, I do not know what the 70s program is for the 3-31-12 weekend. I probably would go along with you if the Academy Awards weren't so far in our recent past. (I'm sure Ryan Seacrest has wiped away all memory of that event.) I would also go along with your projection of the movies special if there weren't so many songs from the 60s. (I believe there's a 50% mix of 60s/70s music.) With that in mind, I'd probably lean away from predicting that special. However, I hope I'm wrong and that you're right. It's a special that fits well with the demographic. And, without question, it also deserves to be heard again.

Here goes for the weekend of March 31st:
80's - 3/31/84 70's - 4/1/78 SXM - 3/26/77
I am going to do something kinda crazy and predict that Premiere plays the AT40 Goes to the Movies Special from April 1, 1978. Maybe it's because I'm still trying to wrap my arms around why they are going with 3/31/73 this week?
And funny, just saw where my buddy dukedeb is thinking the same thing!

Here we go for the weekend of April 7th...1984 has been nothing but bad luck for me the last year. Every time I pick a 1984 show, they don't play one, and the few times they have picked 1984 (including the 1/14, 10/6, and 7/28 shows), I went with something else. So I am avoiding picking '84 until further notice, even though my gut tells me it would be a pretty likely year to hear next week...
80's - 4/4/87 (if so, I believe that we would hear the debut of the synth-heavy '87-'88 jingle package) 70's - 4/10/71 SXM - 4/3/71
So sure, I will guess that we get 1971 from Premiere and SXM...hopefully they decide to each play a different show if that happens.

It does seem years run in pairs a lot; this week 76, 77, last week 73, 74 so even though I hope both don't do 1971, a 71, 72 combo would not surprise me. Or it could be 71 & fake 1970! Seriously, if anyone actually wants to hear another fake '70 show, I think Time Life's AM Gold series might still be selling on e-bay...feel free to give that one a try.
