My predictions for Premiere 80s: September 22: 9/22/1984 (if not guest-hosted, otherwise I'm betting on 1987) September 29: 9/26/1987 - it's definitely hosted by Casey, as I remember Casey introducing Go West's first top 40 hit "Don't Look Down (The Sequel)" when it debuted at #40 that weekend, and Casey mentioned it was the first of 6 debuts that week. If 1987 airs on September 22, I will go with 1984 for September 29. I think you might be a week off. 9/22/84 was not guest hosted, but I echo mkarns that next week's 80's show will almost certainly be '84 or '85. I actually think we get those in the next two weeks in that order. However...wouldn't be out of the question to get 1987 the first week in October (which also contains the Go West cut), especially if 9/28/85 is chosen for next week. No way we get 9/26/87...it was indeed aired a year ago, plus it would be the 3rd time for that show. 9/19/87 would also have practically been a no-go as well since it was aired in 2010.

As for the 70's...I am sticking with the assumption that we hear 10/7/78 this year, which would probably have to happen the weekend of October 6th. That means an early-mid 70's show for next week. Premiere has yet to air either 9/30/72 or 9/28/74. I will go with the latter of the two, but if we get the '72 show, does that mean an alternate to go with it? Recent history would suggest that we do, but for now I will take the easier road. SXM...hmmm...well they haven't played '74 in forever, so is this a weekend that both networks air the same show? I will actually guess that they give us another '70 show... For the weekend of Sept. 29th: 80s - 9/29/84 70s - 9/28/74 SXM - 9/26/70 9/30/72 was a special countdown of the top 40 artists of 1967-72, so I find it somewhat unlikely that Premiere would offer it, and if they did it would almost certainly be paired with a regular countdown from later in the decade. 10/7/72 is regular but was played just two years ago, so I don't forsee a 1972 Premiere show for at least three weeks. As for SXM and 1974, that year hasn't been played by them in nearly four months, since the beginning of June, after being featured in February, March, and April. I hope the next 1974 countdown they play has better sound quality than those it aired earlier this year!

I always get burned every time I don't check to see if a show is either a special or guest hosted. Yeah, I'd say chances are slim to none that we get that 9/30/72 special...and slim just rode out of town.

For next week, I'm sticking with 9/28/74 and 9/29/84 for my predictions. I don't do XM or Casey Lite, as I don't listen to either. The '84 show would be a repeat from 2007.
Now, for October, I see things lining up this way:
First, the 70s:
10/5 - 10/7/78 (First four-hour show) 10/12 - 10/14/72 (Repeat from 2008) 10/19 - 10/16/76 ("Disco Duck" by Rick Dees is #1!) 10/26 - 10/25/75 (Would be first airing of Oct. 75 show in series' history)
Now, the 80s:
10/5 - 10/5/85 10/12 - 10/10/87 10/19 - 10/16/82 10/26 - 10/25/80
Constructive criticism welcome. Be nice - I have a cold, I'm tired, and it's my birthday tomorrow.

Sorry that you have a cold on the day before your birthday!!!
Well, Pointpark, since tomorrow is your birthday, you should tell us what your favorite AT40/Casey show is and why. Are one of the predictions you have made tied to your birthday somehow?

That's a good list; seven of the eight have never been played by Premiere before, and with the possible exception of 10/25/80, none follow a show from the same year too closely. Then again, fall 1980 was almost totally overlooked last year so maybe it's time to balance that out.
If the 1972 show were offered, it would most likely be coupled with something from 1977/8/9, judging from recent Premiere behavior. (Same for 1970 and 1971). While 10/7/78 was indeed the first four hour show, the majority of listeners might not know it unless they search out a station online that plays the four hour versions, as several of us here frantically did last weekend. Casey mentioned in the intro the show's new, expanded length; to my knowledge, he never mentioned the show's forthcoming expansion on air before it happened, even on the last three hour show.

caseyfan4ever, none of these shows are directly related to my birthday. I will say, though, that I desperately want to hear the 1976 show featuring "Disco Duck" at number one. I still have the 45 from my childhood, when it quite likely was my older brother's at that time.
My favorite AT40 show? Well, I was a giant Genesis/Phil Collins fan in the '80s, and I was ecstatic when Genesis hit number one their only week ever, with "Invisible Touch", on July 19, 1986. A show, as you know, we heard this summer, to my delight.
So, that was probably my favorite show ever.

OK, so it was down to 1984 and '85...and Premiere went with '85! I was under the assumption that after what happened a year ago, that when it came down to those two years, they would lean toward '84...but alas this weekend seems to prove that theory wrong. So, since I had 9/29/84 and 10/5/85 penciled in for the next two weeks, I will have to shift gears. In my mind that means an '87 show for the first week in October. Given the way the dates line up, we could either get 10/3/87 or 10/10/87...and I will go with the show that hasn't been aired yet (10/3/87 was played in 2009).
As for the 70's series...well, I actually made my prediction for this week back in May or June following the advent of Premiere's optional offerings of the first hour of 4-hour shows. And the fact that they are going with a second straight early 70's show this weekend further supports that prediction, since it shows that Premiere is adjusting their rotation to accommodate for this show. So I am sticking with it and will be sorely disappointed if we don't get it (OK--slight exaggeration there).
SXM shockingly is airing a second straight late 70's show...let's just hope the '76 show for this week doesn't sound like my Fisher Price record player from when I was a kid was used to remaster it like the past weekend's '78 show. Anyway, gotta be an early 70's week, right? Well...I'm actually going to go way out on a limb and say they go late 70's for a 3rd straight week...after all, it's been nearly 4 months since we heard a '79 show on SXM, and I can't think of a year that makes more sense. If they go early 70's, I will concur with lasvegaskid and say 10/3/70.
For the weekend of October 6th: 80's - 10/10/87 70's - 10/7/78 SXM - 10/6/79

Thank you, wahoo. And you probably know I despise the Steelers, and are just being cheeky. I love it!
Well, my October predictions as far as the 80s are concerned have already been rendered largely moot, as we are getting 9/28/85 this coming weekend. So I say we get 10/2/1982 (not a 1987 show, as I had opined in the 80s thread) the first weekend of October, followed by 10/10/1987, then 10/20/1984, with 10/25/1980 rounding out the month.
Or so I think, huh?

Incidentally, I've seen a YouTube clip of Bob Eubanks guest hosting America's Top 10 from that same week, when Casey was sidelined by laryngitis.

Then this guy doesn't have altogether complete information regarding which shows were guest-hosted. www.oldradioshows.com/at40/regindexck.htmlThen I throw my hands in the air. I don't know what in the h-e-l-l Premiere will do now. I guess I go back to 10/3/87 for the first week in October. I wonder if Premiere is shoving all of these repeat shows down the throats of their affiliates, because it plans on ending the entire 80s series, and doesn't want to put the money into remastering any more unaired shows. Idle speculation purely on my part.

That site is not all that reliable in that regard. Guest hosted shows from Feb and August 1976, May 1978, Jan, June and this week in Sept. 1979 are also missed, among others.
