So no more streaks to worry about this week...and the latest 1984 drought ends with a repeat show. And we get to hear not one, but two 1970 shows! Anyway...for the 80's series, I am sticking with that assumption of '84 and '87 in these two weeks. For the '70s shows--I will be surprised if we don't get a couple of late 70's shows this time (including 1975). I am not going to figure in this supposed alternate show we are getting this week as part of the "pattern"...so for the weekend of August 18th:
80's - 8/15/87 70's - 8/16/75 SXM - 8/19/78

WODC has the show its going to air on August 12 already posted. Also note, you'll hear the hourly AT40 show introductions stating that the show is from August 15, 1970, and it actually uses the August 15, 1970 chart. Of course, the air date is actually August 8-9, 1970. Perhaps it's being done like this going forward to avoid any confusion between the air date/chart date even though most fans know better by now when these shows really aired. There is an explanation as well on the WODC site: www.oldies933fm.com/pages/pp_mikeeiland.html

Well, here are my uneducated guesses for the remainder of August:
1970s For 8/18: August 21, 1976 (never been aired) For 8/25: August 23, 1975 (never been aired)
1980s For 8/18: August 15, 1987 (never been aired) For 8/25: August 29, 1981 (never been aired)
Then, if Premiere wants to play a non-repeat 1971 show between now and the middle of September, we'll have to hear an August show during the first week of September, which would be August 28, 1971.
And, in the first week of September, Premiere may be stuck with having to play September 6, 1980 - a week after playing 1981 - in order to avoid repeat shows.
Going with a repeat 1984 show this weekend I think has put Premiere in a bind - that is, IF staying away from repeats is such a huge priority.
Then again, I digress.

Good to see them doing well again.

FYI, 2 years ago both Premeire and SXM played the first AT40, last year SXM played the 3rd and 7th shows, Premiere played the 4th show and this year SXM is playing the 5th show, Premiere is playing the 6th show. With the second show unavailable, as many of the first 7 shows as possible have been played in the last 2+ years.

Franky, two things:
1) I did not realize 9/6/80 was a sub-hosted show. My bad.
2) I DESPISE the Steelers. And professional football as a whole.
Thanks for the reply, though.

Yeah, Sept. 1980 is one of those rare months that has two sub-hosted shows (9/27/80 is the other)... And a guy from Pittsburgh that doesn't like the Steelers???

^LOL Wahoo. A guy from Pittsburgh that doesn't like the Steelers? That's what I thought....lol. It's like a guy from Minnesota who doesn't like the Vikings...Sorry to bring up the Vikings Wahoo....Doesn't look good for you guys this season. Doesn't look good for my Steelers either if Big Ben does indeed have that torn rotator cuff.

You people don't realize how dumb are the residents of this town, Pittsburgh. Refer to one of my taglines.
We won't fund our public transit, which is dying a death by a thousand cuts; we refuse to do anything substantive about urban gun violence; we fund stadiums and arenas, yet let our school districts go to hell in a handbasket. Oh - and our air quality is one of the worst in the country.
This town lives and dies with the Steelers. It takes first-place in importance, with second-place going to the Penguins.
I know this isn't an epidemic that is exclusive to Pittsburgh in this country, but Pittsburgh epitomizes the stupidity.
So, back to the predictions, franky and wahoo, what do you see the next few weeks looking like? What then of 1980?
Thanks.

I have a feeling that the next 1980 show is going to be a repeat, just like two of the three 1980 shows aired so far this year (the exception was April 26, 1980).

If we're going to talk football, then I hope for August 1982 or August 1987 next, since those were at the start of seasons that ended with Redskins Super Bowl victories. And further regarding local sports, in two months I'd like October 1983, when the Orioles won the World Series.

Don't you know that it's the American way to prioritize sports over that other stuff? As for a 1980 show...well if we don't get one in August, I'm wondering if they do repeat one of the Sept. '80 shows or wait until the 10/11/80 show. Tough one to guess--1980 was only aired twice in the 2nd half of 2011 for whatever that's worth. And franky, sadly you are probably correct...our Vikings are looking at another rebuilding year, especially if AP doesn't come back full strength (I still can't believe we were playing him late in a lost season like that). But hey, back to the stadium thing that pointpark04 brought up--we at least get to keep the Vikings because...oh yeah, we're building a new stadium! mkarns--I am going to predict right now that we get an October '83 show. Too good of a month musically (the 10/22/83 show is one of my favorites in the entire catalog), and Premiere has only aired two of the four available shows. I would like to see them play 10/8/83 (though I would take 10/29/83 too).

As for next week's Premiere shows, one artist on each show has 2 songs in the top 40.
Songs have to be in the top 40 so extras, LDDs and such do not count. Plus you might want to look at the 'triple play' thread to see how songs can count toward an artists' 2 songs.

1980 fits with 2 by Billy Joel. 1982 has two from Cougar. 1986 looks like it had a song by Lionel on the chart and another LDD. Would that qualify as being "in the top 40"? 1977 with two from Shawn Cassidy. 1978 has two from Andy Gibb, but ONJ might disqualify that show if you count her duet with John Travolta with her solo. And of course Donna had two songs in the top 40 the entire Summer of 1979. LDD's don't count, but 1981 could qualify for Lionel Richie, since he had hits then with the Commodores and a Diana Ross duet. Whitney Houston would qualify if they play 8/15/87. Paul McCartney could qualify with 1976, with Beatles and Wings.

My mom's uncle is from Pittsburgh and he and his family aren't big Steeler fans either. He has a term to describe Steeler fanatics. It's called "sickies".
