Ah, to go back to the days when they hired professional disc jockeys (or at least Premiere/WW1/ABC Watermark interns) to sub on these shows.

I really think Premiere should have Mike and Keri Kasem Guest host the 50th Anniversary show...Just a thought and I know we are 3 years away from that but it would be nice. Please start working on that Premiere... You have 3 years.

Please start working on that Premiere... You have 3 years. 1) Why would you have such a milestone show guest hosted? If your main guy (Ryan) is out 51 out of 52 weeks in a year, he'd better be there for something like this. The 40th show was fantastic, as was the show following Casey's passing. I imagine the 50th show will be a nice production. 2) Why would you have the children of the guy who stopped hosting it 17 years prior to the 50th anniversary show host it?

I really think Ryan Seacrest should host the 50th anniversary show since by then will have been for 16 years and most of the listeners of the show will only know him as the host. Should relatives of Edward R Murrow or Walter Cronkite come back and host some milestone anniversary of the CBS Evening News? No. Why there is this continuous refusal to accept its Ryan's show now and he is still treated by many as some fill in keeping the seat warm for some professional well known dj to come and take it over (DJ's who quite honestly don't exist and relate to this audience anymore) is beyond me.

Paul everyone is used to Ryan ... I got use to Ryan right away back in 2004, so what's your point? Ryan isn't going anywhere. He has been more into the show than he has ever been before. OK Brettvw I see your point, but what do you think the 50 years anniversary should consist of? You always have some good ideas.

Then why would you think anyone other than the current host of the show would host the anniversary one? Shadoe hosted the 20th. Ryan hosted the 40th. Why would this one be any different?
And I am sorry if you have accepted him as host and had other reasons for thinking it should be a different host. Plenty of people on this board and other places still treat Ryan like a second tier fill in who has no claim of being the shows host and never will. So, no, everyone is not used to it. Nor has everyone accepted it. People think it can be the "good ol' days" again and it can't and won't.

I would do a similar show that was done for the 40th. Play some clips from the past, mention some chart records, and play the hits!

I would do a similar show that was done for the 40th. Play some clips from the past, mention some chart records, and play the hits! Know what I'd do? I'd have Ryan introduced a Casey clip and song as the optional extra of all 4 hours. That way any station that wanted to air the historical stuff could, those that don't wouldn't feel obligated to. Hour 1 - First intro of #1 and "Mama Told Me Not to Come Hour 2 - Lennon Tribute and "Just Like Starting Over" Hour 3 - pick one - maybe the...as much as it pains me to write this, LDD about that kid who died in the planet crash and "Imagine" by John Lennon though this could make the extras too Lennon centric with 2. Hour 4 - Final intro to AT20's last #1 and then "Second Chance" by Shinedown Other than that and mentioning in the show it's the 50th anniversary, that'd be about all. The more I think about it, I'd do the exact same optional extras on all the shows including the 70s and 80s one. If they re-aired the first show which I assume they will, you just use the final 3 above. And yes, when I say use the same extras that means with Ryan intro'ing them on the classic shows also.

Yes interesting is the word. Interesting that I changed my avatar message to a line from his recent hit just a few days ago too.
Macklemore did a fine job IMO. Took the questions that were asked a lot more seriously than other guest hosts. Surprised he did not play "Glorious". Played his 4 top 10 hits instead.

I think she did a nice job. And it was nice to hear some of her older hits that radio hasn’t played in a while.
