Since we're into 1974 this weekend, I'm reminded of Edgar Winter's final trek into the Top 40. "River's Risin'" was a decent song from his "Shock Treatment" LP but it only managed to climb to #33 on August 17, 1974. It's my opinion that Epic Records made an epic error in deciding to issue "Easy Street" as Winter's next single -- a song which turned out to be his last on the Hot 100. The LP's "Miracle Of Love" had pop hit written all over it, and likely would've been Winter's 4th Top 40 hit. But nobody at Epic Records called me at the time, asking for my recommendation. Failing to make it as a single, and with spotlighting LP tracks a thing of the past on the countdown in 1974, one way or another, "Miracle Of Love" should have made it to AT40. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iLSX97xKV0

After listening to the first LDD on this week´s "B"-show from 9/5/87 and to George Benson´s "Lady love me (one more time)" which appears on next week´s 9/10/83-show I would say:
George Benson - Nothing´s gonna change my love for you

A little off topic, these songs that made Shadoe Stevens AT40 non-Hot 100 sources November 1991-January 1995 (originally first using the Billboard Top 40 radio monitor and later Billboard Top 40 mainstream) should have made Casey's Top 40 chart reaches since Casey used the R&R chart source like Rick Dees did: "Just a Touch of Love" - C&C Music Factory "Nu Nu" - Lidell Townsell "Too Blind to See It" - Kym Sims "Jump Around" - House of Pain "Spin the Bottle" - Juliana Hatfield 3

Although I have to say "goodbye to the summer" during these days here´s one of my personal "beach classics" (maybe if you drink a cappuccino and take a look at the sea or if you dance with your sweetheart beside the jukebox in a seaside cafe): Imagination - Just an illusion

No Bros - Be my friend (starts at 0:30)
One of the best Austrian ballads, not by chance from a hard rock band and certainly not by chance from No Bros, who could record their biggest success in the Austrian charts.

"We are what we Are" by The Other Ones. I think it's just a beautiful song. Topped out at #53 around this time of the year, 1987. Their campier lone Top 40 "Holiday" hit #29 a few months later.
It did hit #38 Rock.

I think Level 42's band of jazz/funk/pop is maybe kind of an acquired taste... but I have always been a fan and thought this one should have been more popular. Released but didn't hit in US, #13 UK. (Video not synched with music but it's the only one on Youtube)

Both Leaving Me Now and We Are What We Are were played heavily on Canadian pop stations. I think WAWWA was also played on Canadian rock stations.
I think WAWWA came first, Summer of 1987, and Holiday came in the Fall of 1987.

"AEIOU Sometimes Y", by a New York-based synthpop duo named Ebn Ozn. What makes it unique is that it was the first commercial single recorded entirely on a computer. The entirety of the album it came from ("Feeling Cavalier") was also recorded on that same computer. "AEIOU Sometimes Why" reached #20 on the Billboard Dance Club chart, and the video for it received a fair amount of play on MTV, but it never made the main Hot 100 chart at all.
"I.O.U.", from an English band named Freeez It reached #2 on the UK singles chart, and attained top-five positions on the singles charts of the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Australia as well. In the U.S., "I.O.U." reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart, and #13 on the R&B chart. Considering its success on the territories I mentioned, It's baffling why "I.O.U." didn't appear on the Hot 100.

Wish they fared better here in the States.

"Can You Feel It", by The Jacksons, the third single from their "Triumph" album (#77 on the Hot 100).
Based on how much you've seen the Amazon.com 2018 Holidays advertising campaign, I'm surprised it didn't become the third Top-40 single from the "Triumph" album.

Man, was disco music dead in the water by 1981, or what? "Can You Feel It" was #1 on Billboard's dance/disco chart, #6 in the UK, and I know this because it has its own Wikipedia article. I've always liked the video too.
