A pair from the 80's 1981-The Afternoon Delights "General Hospi-tale" 1984-Jump N' The Saddle "The Curly Shuffle"-That song sounds like the Controlled Comfort ad that been running here in Omaha the last 20+ years!

Then there's, Side 2... "Hyperspace" "The Defender" "Mousetrap" "Goin' Berzerk" The first of those is the only one (well, sort of) on that album in which the title didn't contain the video game that it was about. The videogame was Asteroids and "hyperspace" was a feature in the game where you could either push a button or pull back on the joystick to move your spaceship to another part of the screen, like if you were about to be hit by an Asteroid. The only thing is, it was totally random, so you might be placed where an Asteroid is and then you'd lose a life. It was indeed a leap of faith. I preferred the Atari game, since there were options where pulling back on the joystick could put up a shield, protecting you if an Asteriod was heading straight for you. There was a catch to that as well, since you could only hold the shield for a few seconds or you'd lose a life (otherwise, there would be no challenge, as you'd be able to hide behind the shield the entire game, if you wanted).

^Casey listed off many of these games, including Asteroids, in 2003 when the Ataris we’re on the countdown.
Anyway, another bad song I love is “People Are Still Having Sex” by LaTour. I was amused and surprised that it was used as part of Tonya Harding’s routine in “I, Tonya.”

"Funky Worm" by the Ohio Players I've heard it at least a hundred times. And that includes this live performance... www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl5gS8NR_IcI love funk but I still don't get the old lady part, which steps on the music. And I'm not sure about the lyrics either. It's bad, like 9 cans of shaving powder. Hey that's 'Granny'--she's the worm's agent/manager. She gets all the money, "...'cause he can't spend it!". Another 'novelty funk' song I love.

Too bad that The Afternoon Delights didn't do another one later on about The Young & the Restless, remember Mr. Mom? The Curly Shuffle by the Jump 'N the Saddle Band is still awesome, I sung it karaoke at my then company Christmas party, its music video's even better!

A lot of big 80s ballads that people went apenuts for at the time but rarely get airplay now. 1. When I'm With You, Sheriff... Never hear on oldies radio 2. Can't Fight This Feeling, REO...Like #1, sounds dated 3. Amanda, Boston... Sounded old in 1986. Radio favors Don't Look Back & More Than A Feeling today While I personally like your #1 and #3 (more than #2, which I do still occasionally hear), you are correct about many 'power ballads' rarely being heard today. Another #1 I would add would be Bad English's (with John Waite on vocals) "When I See You Smile" from '89.

Anything by Christopher Cross or Air Supply. Just no. I’ve never liked “At This Moment” by Billy Vera either. “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” by Cutting Crew is another hit song I’ve never liked.

Well, of course, as you know from reading my critiques, I'm a big Christopher Cross and Air Supply fan. But I agree about "At This Moment". Especially at the end, when he was milking it for what it was worth, and the audience kept egging him on. Also, the Cutting Crew song - I think I kind of liked it when it first came out, but then radio stations played the hell out of it and then some. It still comes up on 80s stations on a regular basis, yet I don't think they ever play their other Top Ten "I've Been In Love Before".

Surprised nobody mentioned I've Never Been To Me by Charlene. Guess the song was not good enough to make the Top 40 in 1977 but by 1982..

Also, like Christopher Cross, Air Supply and Charlene on a limited basis. I'll give Billy Vera his "moment" in the limelight, after what I've heard of his career, he deserved it. Family Ties was one of my favorite shows growing up so that song reeled me in.
