The retro shows are now updated Good news and bad news. Good news is that it's Nov 24, 1990 (last time 1990 was Sept 1990) Bad news is it's still in last year's repeat.

I enjoyed listening to the 1990 show again this year. It had that 80s countdown feel with the return of 80s superstars Heart, Billy Joel, The Outfield, Hall&Oates, and even Steve Winwood. It would only be a few years later when many of them, including most hair bands would say bye bye.

Raymond Burr often gets made fun of in the 1980s countdowns, but was he really that topical? I remember a few Perry Mason made-for-TV movies around the time, but that's about it.

It would only be a few years later when many of them, including most hair bands would say bye bye. You are so right about the show having a late 80s feel to it. Hall And Oates would have their last Top 10 with “So Close”. “One And Only Man” would be Steve Winwood’s “one and only” hit in the 90s (sorry Steve) after having Top 10 hits and two number ones in the mid and late 80s. Two years later hair bands like Poison, Warrant, Winger would see the hits dry up after Kurt Cobain and grunge came along. David Cassidy and Donnie Osmond, who would’ve seen those two have hits? Some of the songs on the countdown bring me right back to 5th grade....brought back great memories. Loved the songs by Suzanne Vega, d**n Yankees, Dee-Lite, Billy Joel, Heart.... MC Hammer, Wilson Phillips (I like that song “Impulsive” more than the overplayed “Hold On). I even liked the “lost” songs by Elisa Fiorillo, Soho, After 7 etc..And “Justify My Life” by Madonna, which has to be my least favourite song by Madonna but thanks to a controversial music video and the predictable outrage that followed it was a number one song. I really enjoyed the 1990 show as well, more than last year. I guess when there are so few 1990 shows you learn to appreciate them more. I could do without the opening with all the screams, thank god they got rid of that by 1992. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and you’re not too stuffed .

KZOY is playing 10/17/1987 this morning. The sure shot is "I Do You" by the Jets. This show last aired on 10/14/2017 and this is the 7th time it has aired in retro-Dees.

In addition to October 17, 1987 the app has been updated to March 23, 1996 and December 15, 2001. Why are we now getting shows scattered throughout the year?

If Rick Dees and staff continue to screw up shows like airing different month and year, then good riddance anyways! It's obvious Rick Dees and the staff doesn't even care for the show anyways. I'm not even going to credit him for his hard work though.

I believe this week’s ‘90s version is December 4, 1999.

I believe this week’s ‘90s version is December 4, 1999. The 80s is also changed too: Dec 6, 1986 So I guess Oct 17, 1987 and Mar 23, 1996 turned out to be an error after all Dec 1986 and Dec 1999 was last repeated 2017, also same with 2001

I guess stations were sent the October 1987 and March 1996 shows at the same time they were released to the Rick Dees app, and they weren't corrected until later. At least 1986 and 1999 can still be heard through the app, and we just got the same 1986 week from Casey anyway.

They may have decided to make the change to more appropriate seasonal shows.

Yeah, I'll be skipping the 1986 show since we got the same date from AT40 and also since we're bound to get 1986 again two weeks later. I'm kind of hoping next week will be December 14, 1985 but of course it's going to be December 17, 1988 because nothing's ever new on rick.com.
