Since mid-2014 it's been the same list of 1980s and 90s shows repeated each year, with only minor or occasional variations. Before that there wasn't as predictable a list, but there was more repetition of some of the years covered and other years were more likely to be skipped (the 90s for a while seemed to consist of nothing but 1992-mid 1996.)
The only major change since came this spring when the 2000s countdowns began being replayed.

Are there seriously only 52 shows in rotation in the 80's series? I guess what I'm getting at is: Any chance the show this weekend is NOT November 30, 1985? There might be 53...LOL. But, yeah, the repeats turned me away. (Plus AT40/CT40 is better, IMO.) I was fortunate to catch a couple of years before the repeats came. I'd be surprised if it was something other than 11/30/1985. Bet the year-end (12/28/1985) will air again too. The repeats turned you away. For me it is Dees himself. His babbling going into a break drives right up the wall. So many times, he will go on and on about some ridiculous thing and I am saying, "Shut the F**K Up!" I don't want to hear about all these silly actors and actresses lives. This is a show about music not movies! Instead of Dees Sleaze, it should be Dees Sneeze. Just sneeze a couple times and go into the break. I find myself once he starts this babbling about nothing, simply starting the next track! Got into Dees shows for the first time to start the year, was listening to all 3 series. Had the novelty factor going for awhile. But by August, I had grown sick of his shenanigans and went down to just the D2K series. Now I may be done with even those shows!

I respect Rick Dees. He's kept a 4-hour Top 40 show on the air continuously for 34 years, while starting up other shows in the process. Not too many DJs have done that.

Funny because I am exactly the opposite when it comes to Ricks countdown. At first, I only listened to it to hear the 1988-89 shows which Premiere doesn't offer. When I first listened, I could not stand the talk and so-called jokes in between the songs. Now I've grown used to it and don't mind as much. Some is actually pretty funny. One thing that has to go though is this: I HATE it when the songs begin with some different sound-alike of the artist singing about the countdown in the first lyric. My kids were with me in the car and we were listening to the top 40 and they couldn't stand that (along with the jingles...lol) as well.

This is the beauty of Rick: two people can hear him, even after 34 years, and have two totally different opinions! I will always love Rick: He is someone who made it on his own to be one of the biggest voices of a generation. Don't get me wrong: his shenanigans can grow tiresome and his chart methodology is questionable, at best, but to me he still entertains to this day. His "Rickileaks" segment, while not really informative, makes me laugh every time the voices come on to start the segment just because they are so awful. I'm with you about the fake lyrics lauding the songs, especially when they take out a verse to do so ("Heathens" really gets on my nerves). But, his non stop ranting about his neighbor Justin Bieber makes me laugh every time, particularly when he talks about him jet skiing in six inch water in Toluca Lake. One final note: Normally when Dees does interviews, you can tell that they are recorded from something else, usually for someone else. This is not new: Dees when he first started the "Weekly Top 40" did this as well (I can remember a Kool and The Gang interview from 1985 that obviously was taken from some other interview with Dees voice superimposed). But he did an interview with Bruno Mars earlier this year that was the best interview I've heard in the last two or so years on a top 40 show. I still think Dees has it. Whether he is your cup of tea or not, that's in the ear of the beholder. And that's how Dees has always been.

I've seen you used to post bonus shows in this thread every week I stopped paying attention since it's the same 3 or 4 shows replayed over and over in each format.

Question : as we know, this weekend retro rick dees the 90s is November 30, 1996 Request special, it is known to be the CHR edit , because rick.com , in a 99% of the times , airs CHR shows , but do you know if there is a Hot AC show for november 30, 1996? If so , It is also a request special? I think in one ocassion while a CHR show was a special, the sister HAC show was a regular.
Thanks.

Looking at one of the websites that lists all of Rick's shows, the HAC show for 11/30/1996 is also an all-request special. The odds are near 100% that they are the same show.

I thought this was one of the few things that were real. Next thing you'll be telling me the Weekly Top 40 Challenge is fake.

Anybody else get annoyed with Rick's over-promoting the new App? Every week, he describes features such as "every song ever recorded" and "all of the countdowns going back." A bit misleading for people who don't know, I would think...

He is correct about every song ever played. But... you have to pay for the whole song. The app only gives you like 30 seconds free of it. Case in point: I was trying to find the song "Never Take the Place of Your Man" by Prince. For some reason, all of Prince's songs are very hard to find online. Normal album versions can't be found on YouTube. So I went to Ricks app and they are all there, but come at a price.
