I doubt that that's the case. I still hope it's because of how they scheduled the years. Speaking of controversial artists, oddly on Pop2K's 2004 countdown, they didn't skip over the two songs that featured R. Kelly like they did in the past. This past weekend, 1994 was counted down on the 90s on 9. R. Kelly was at #1 and his song was skipped by Downtown Julie Brown. She said something about the song, and about R. Kelly being in "hot water" due to the TV special, but no song was played.

That's similar to when a radio station in my area switched from CHR to HAC in 1994, then began chopping out songs from Casey's Top 40 that were too heavy or hip-hop sounding. This included "Another Night" when it was #1. Awkward...

This week's show is advertised as "Heart, Van Halen, and more!" Since both artists are on different parts of the chart, I'm glad to see them mixing it up instead of just choosing two semi-random bands in the first hour.

Next week it'll be all about 1980, four months later! Also ending at the same time as Premiere's own drought!

Since both artists are on different parts of the chart, I'm glad to see them mixing it up instead of just choosing two semi-random bands in the first hour. Advertising efforts are improving. Last week was "Madonna, Simple Minds and more!" Both artists were in the Top 8.

Next week it'll be all about 1980, four months later! Also ending at the same time as Premiere's own drought! Must be bittersweet for the beggars who got their way when 1/5/80 was played. They will get early May 1980 and then probably only one more 1980 survey this Fall in 2019. Personally I am pleased and I am someone who loves 1981 and thinks 1989 is the second worst year behind 1980. All eight of the Reagan years were my favorites of all-time.

You may never know. They might be able to squeeze in two or three more instead before the year is over.

With 8 months left in 2019, we should average a 1980 countdown every 2 1/2 months, so that could be three times after the 5-3-19 episode. There are no songs that were played on the 1-5-80 episode featured on 1-4-19 that we will hear on 5-3-19 featuring 5-3-80. Almost making it is "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" which debuted on the Top 40 one week later on 1-12-80, and was spending its last week on the Top 40 on 5-3-80.

Since both artists are on different parts of the chart, I'm glad to see them mixing it up instead of just choosing two semi-random bands in the first hour. And they use that pattern again this week, with "Queen, Billy Joel, and more!" as Queen is towards the beginning of the chart while Billy is in the top 10.

Next week it'll be all about 1988. Should be the 5/7 chart.

Next week it'll be all about 1988. Should be the 5/7 chart. That would be preferable to 5/14, which was used last year. This likely means we once again get nothing from June 1988, which has never been featured in eight straight years.

Tonight's countdown is being advertised as "Glass Tiger, Taylor Dayne and more!" so it must be 5/7/88. Taylor Dayne dropped out of the Top 10 on 5/14/88 and the advertising trend lately has been an artist in the bottom 10 and an artist in the top 10 on the website/app.
