The next possible time we'll hear MJ is if they do 1980 the next week because I think "Off The Wall" was on the chart that week. I don't think they'll drop the song but who knows what will happen on SiriusXM in the coming weeks. If anything, they'll just not play him as often and not even touch the countdowns.

The fate of Michael Jackson music on the radio (satellite included) will hinge on whether people choose to believe these alleged victims in this documentary. None of these accusations against MJ are new; we've been hearing them for over 25 years. And as far as I know, I've heard no real talk of banning his music on the radio until now.

The advertisement is just as lazy as the rest of the show. They randomly choose two artists between #32 and #39 and they're done. Could be new, could be falling, could be legendary (Prince) or could be forgotten (Prism.) And guess what--we get Prism next week ("Don't Let Him Know"--#39 in March 1982). With Tommy Tutone, Rick Springfield, and more... Actually it's Tommy Tutone, Chilliwack, and more!

Interesting that they are going with 3/13/82 instead of 3/20/82. Chilliwack dropped like a rock from the Top 40 on 3/20/82.

Next week it'll be all about 1989. I was kind of expecting 1980 to be next. Plus unless they go with 3/18, we're bound to hear the oft-heard 3/25 chart.

Wonder if the complaints are trickling in for the next week's year selection like how they wanted to go with the 1/7/89 chart and then the outcry forced them to change it to another year. Maybe it could happen, who knows?

Maybe it could happen, who knows? I wonder that as well. I doubt they're avoiding it because of MJ because he's still played on there and everything's kind of died out as of now. Besides 1980 would have been perfect for next week because the first airing would match the chart date, plus it saw the debut of one of my favorite Billy Joel songs.

Well it didn't happen so 1989 is up for Friday night. Makes me wonder how far ahead of time they have scheduled shows, because if they were to have done 1/7, then the gap between the two shows from that year would have made more sense, so I guess they forgot and are just going with it. If that's the case then 1980 is definitely a given to close out March. Hopefully.

My theory is, they simply swapped 1980 and 1989 in Jan/Feb due to the outcry, but left them alone for the next airings. If that's the case, it might be another month before we get 1980.

If that's the case, then 1980 would more than likely be the second week of April if 1985 and 1987 are next

Next week it'll be all about 1987, so it looks like Michael was right.

Hmmmm, just wondering why 1980 is being held off for awhile. Great music is on the charts during March 1980 by Michael Jackson, Christopher Cross, Blondie, Shalamar, Andy Gibb, Pink Floyd, just to name a few. Does anyone think the focus will be more on mid to late 1980s? AT40 the 80s gives optional years when they do the early 1980s, as does AT40 the 70s, when they do the early 70s. Maybe the VJ Countdown is doing this as well! UGH

I don't really think so. As Michael mentioned above, they more than likely swapped the first 1980 and 1989 airings at the beginning part of the year because 1989 was originally supposed to be up for the first week of January until outcry caused them to switch it with 1980 because it would have been 1/7, which has been done a ton of times as it is. However, I guess they're not switching any of the other 80/89 airings, so if 1980 was meant to air in February, then it more than likely means that it's coming up sometime in April. I'm predicting the second week, so it shouldn't be too long, plus I'm sure most if not all those artists will still be on.

I was also mad about not getting 1980 this week. Obviously this was driven by the fallout from the "Leaving Neverland" documentary. There's also an issue with Roger Waters of Pink Floyd; He was labeled an anti-Semite by the Anti-Defamation League, and he supports the Maduro regime in Venezuela, Those must be the reasons why we're dealing with another chart repeat this week.
For example, I think Nina's talk breaks on this week's countdown are at the exact same places as when the same chart was first covered in 2017 (like #7-#6, and #3-#2).
