Next week it'll be all about 1987. I counted 22 songs held over from 12/6/86. Not too bad.

Next week it'll be all about 1985. A bit over a half of the chart has the same songs as 12/22/84, so it could be worse.

17. The longest length of an 80s number-one pop single is "We Are the World" (6 minutes 22 seconds). The shortest length of an 80s number-one pop single is the "Miami Vice Theme" (2 minutes 26 seconds). (In this case, only single edits are counted.) The stock 45 for Blondie's "Rapture" was 6:33, beating "We Are The World" by 11 seconds for longest #1 single in the 80s. Great job with all the research. The US single edit and album version of "Rapture" are one and the same? I thought the 6:33 was for the album/12'' version. I think there was also a UK single edit of "Rapture" that is 4:58, and a 12'' mix that is 7:13.

There is a 4:57 edit (which was later used for the US oldie 45 in '83), as well as a 3:53 radio edit. US label: www.45cat.com/record/chs2485usUK label: www.45cat.com/record/chs2485

The 1981 US promo 45 had both the 4:57 and 6:33 versions. There was also a US promo 12" with both the 4:57 and 6:33 versions. The 7:13 version may have been on a promo 12". I never saw an actual record for it, but it is on Youtube. It is the 6:33 version with the extra verse spliced in. The longest version is 10:00 also known as the special disco version. It was released as a commercial 12" in Europe, but only as a promo 12" in the US. The 5:36 version was first released on the Best of Blondie Lp in late 1981. It is an edit of the 10:00 version.

Tonight's 1985 countdown is being advertised as "Elton John, Cyndi Lauper and more" so it must be the 1/26/85 chart.

Next week it'll be all about 1989. I count about 15 holdovers from the December 1988 show, so way better than the original plan for the beginning of the year.

Veering a little off-topic, I was listening to Pop2K's 2004 countdown last night and noticed that they omitted the two songs that were on the chart that week that involved R. Kelly because of everything that happened.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, so sorry if it's been answered...but on my display today at one point in the countdown it read "April 2017 -- Big Forty Countdown" or something similar. Any idea why?

I think that's how they labeled the little intro because that was more than likely when they switched to those newer ones from the older ones.

Plus, it looks like two of the Big 40 Countdown bumpers that have not been used since the intro change in April 2017 are starting to be used again. One of those bumpers is between #40 and #39, and the other is between #37 and #36.
