So, did anybody realize that Nina Blackwood was no longer appearing as a regular host during the week? Her only role on SiriusXM these days is co-host of the Big 40.
Someone had posted on Facebook that the daily schedule no longer included her show, and questioned if she'd been affected by the recent layoff. I looked into it and found the above information of the 80s on 8 Wikipedia page. And given that the Wikipedia article was last updated two months ago, it's safe to say nobody noticed her departure at all...

The only thing I make an effort to listen to on 80s on 8 is the countdown. That said, I often do tune into the channel otherwise, but it's for the songs, not the announcers.

I actually noticed that too as it was around the same time they bumped the Monday Big 40 airing to noon central. I figured Nina was stepping down from the regular schedule possibly due to age reasons but I haven't taken layoffs into account.

Surely they wouldn't keep Nina Blunderwood around just for the countdowns?

I read online that she has a sanctuary farm with rescued animals in coastal Maine. She may need time to devote to the farm and pursue semi-retirement as she turns 69 this year.

Maybe Martha will come back. She turns "only" 65 this coming May. (Alan had his 67th birthday yesterday, and Mark will be 72 in October.)

You are so welcome, and I am sure Mark appreciates it too!

Next week it'll be all about 1983! The date should be very close to the actual date (2-23-24)--2-26-83, but they will call it 2-25-83.

Great. They're doing the "let's play all the songs in alphabetical order without the VJ talk breaks" act again. And they don't even have the show on-demand yet.
