Uh-oh, I just heard the AT40 show with the sons of a b-tches line on the Jimmy Buffet song, Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes. Apparently, they used the LP version of the song while the single version changed that line to some bruises and stitches--ha, ha thanks SiriusXM.

Per at40petebattistini 's book and my own original AT40 copy of the song "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" by Jimmy Buffett was unedited for its first week debut at #38 from October 22nd, 1977!

No guest this week to make that announcement at the start?! I’m sure there was, but I didn’t catch it. Queen's Brian May did it.

On this week's show (November 13, 1971), I've heard a few tape drop outs. I know that the first year and a half the show was on tape and not LP's which explains this interesting phenomenon. It reminds me of when I worked at a classical station (yawn) in the 1980's. On the week ends we had a few syndicated shows and they mostly came on tape and I had the exciting job of playing these shows. Quite often, I brought a small radio with me and listened to a sports broadcast on another station and/or read a book or magazine. I recall an opera was on and I was listening to a football broadcast (on another station), when the opera began skipping and the phone lines lit up--boy were those opera lovers irate.

Now let’s go back to this week in 1976 - Gary Wright, November 27, 1976 Two interesting notes on this show--
1) Casey recaps the history of AT40
2) Casey answers a letter about working DJ's and #1 hits. Little did Casey know that the DJ with the #1 hit--Rick Dees (Disco Duck)--would turn out to be major competition with his own countdown show; although Rick's style of counting down the hits is very different than Casey's was.

Rick added a touch of comedy to what he did & listeners seemed to like it.
