Speaking of every market having AT40, to the best of my knowledge, Casey Kasem's countdown was not heard at all in Dayton, Ohio (a Top 50 market) during the 70s, through the mid 80s, and possibly beyond. Perhaps someone can correct me if I am mistaken. Any other cities missing the weekly show?

I can distinctly hear in my head (yeah, the weird things my memory holds) Casey doing a station mention for Dayton, OH, but I'm probably remembering it from his Casey's Top 40 days or the 1998-2003 version of AT40.

Perhaps someone can correct me if I am mistaken. I know WGTZ in Dayton had picked up AT40 by the late '80s. I'm pretty sure WSKS (which covered Cincinnati and Dayton) had it in the early '80s, and I know WOKV (which also covered Cincinnati and Dayton) had it in the late '70s. I don't know exactly when WGTZ picked up AT40 though.

A couple of great observations..........I'm aware that WGTZ carried Shadoe's AT40 but I just don't know when it started there.
As far as WOKV, that was an FM station licensed to Hamilton, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. While it may have been possible to be in or near Dayton and hear AT40 on WOKV, my guess is if a Dayton-licensed station wanted the program, Watermark (or ABC Watermark) would have likely signed them to a contract.
Perhaps if someone hears a Dayton-Hamilton-Cincinnati station mention on an old program, we can better specify broadcast information.

I've been listening to a lot of them on iHeartRadio, and these would be my top 5 in each decade: 1) 1984 2) 1985 3) 1983 4) 1986 5) 1982 1) 1978 2) 1977 3) 1979 4) 1976 5) 1975 I also really enjoy 1998 and 1999 If we're including Casey's Top 40, I'd go with these: 1) 1995 2) 1994 3) 1990 4) 1991 5) 1989

It's been nearly 9 years since I started this thread, and I've changed my mind a bit. My favorites are now 1983, 1984, and 1987 (in no particular order).

Really it all depends on taste. I am a big fan of 1976-1987, so all of those year enders are good. 1988-1994-ish I have zero interest in, both AT40 and CT40, so the year enders don't excite me. And I first discovered Casey and the show in 2000, and the time period of 2000-2009 took me through high school, college, my first job, girlfriends, my radio career, and a weekly following of Casey on AT40 and AT20 Hot AC. So all of those Year End shows, AT40 and AT20 HAC from that decade are filled with memories from those points in life.

1984 through 1986, with 1985 being the top of those 3 for me. I also really like 1977 through 1980.

Has to be this week's 70's countdown..YE 1976. It was the first I ever listened to an wrote down...and still have that listing to date...all the bad spelling and all. That was a watershed moment in my life and so glad that spurred me on to follow everything AT40!!!
