Greetings.
I have some time, so I will make a Critique of 20 of the Songs from the Episode of August 1982 that was heard recently.
20: DO I DO - STEVIE WONDER - I remember that he had much attitude in his Voice when I heard this Song.
19: PERSONALLY - KARLA BONOFF - This was one of my Favorites in this Countdown. I believe that, in this Week, this song reached its peak on the Billboard Hot 100.
EXTRA: I'D REALLY LOVE TO SEE YOU TONIGHT - ENGLAND DAN & JOHN FORD COLEY - A great Classic which, in 1976, peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
18: LOVE'S BEEN A LITTLE BIT HARD ON ME - JUICE NEWTON - I have seen the Music Video for this Song. I must say that I think that Juice Newton should spend a quiet evening at Home!
17: TAINTED LOVE - SOFT CELL - I used to think that this Song was from the 1990s. It sounds so modern.
16: LOVE IS IN CONTROL - DONNA SUMMER - I do not remember this Song very well.
15: YOU SHOULD HEAR HOW SHE TALKS ABOUT YOU - MELISSA MANCHESTER - I also do not remember the exact sound of this Song, however I think that I liked it.
14: TAKE IT AWAY - PAUL McCARTNEY - A nice lively Song. If I were alive in 1982, I would have been happy to hear it. I do not think that I have ever heard it on the Radio.
13: LET IT WHIP - THE DAZZ BAND - I do not think that I know what this Song is about. Eventually, I will research the Lyrics.
12: VACATION - GO-GO'S - Awesome! I hear this Song a lot.
11: WASTED ON THE WAY - CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH - In 1982, this group also had another Hit called "Southern Cross". I am more familiar with that one.
10: DON'T YOU WANT ME - HUMAN LEAGUE - The male vocalist sounds a bit threatening to his Client (?). However, she sounds determined to become successful "either with or without [him]". This song, in July of 1982, peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. For three Weeks, it stayed at #1.
9: ONLY THE LONELY - THE MOTELS - I really want to hear this Song more often. The two Songs from them that I know ("Only The Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer") sound haunting.
8: KEEP THE FIRE BURNIN' - R.E.O. SPEEDWAGON - I am not familiar with this Song.
7: EVEN THE NIGHTS ARE BETTER - AIR SUPPLY - Nice. Although I have heard many Hits from Air Supply, I have only heard them on the classic American Top 40 Episodes.
6: ROSANNA - TOTO - Great! It peaked, on the Billboard Hot 100, at #2.
5: HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY - CHICAGO - Such a beautiful and sincere Song. It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September of 1982.
4: HOLD ME - FLEETWOOD MAC - The music in this Song really fits the mood for Summer.
3: ABRACADABRA - THE STEVE MILLER BAND - Something about this Hit sets it apart from their earlier Hits from the 1970s. #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
2: HURTS SO GOOD - JOHN COUGAR - Hurts so good? Hmmm....
1: EYE OF THE TIGER - SURVIVOR - I have never seen any of the movies in the Rocky series. However, this Song does energize me! For six Weeks, it was at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
As I am in the Library now, I hope that I did not make many errors in my Critique. Thank you for reading.
