Casey's son Mike is in the process of launching his own Top 40 countdown radio show. Here's the program's web site, along with a show demo. (I think Mike sounds great here.) www.kasemskountdown.com/They're signing up stations now. I'm sure they'd appreciate any help to promote the show on our end by contacting a local station.

Pete, he does sound good. Do you have any idea what chart this show is using?

It seems that they use the Hot AC chart. I am looking forward to listening to the show.

Pete, he does sound good. Do you have any idea what chart this show is using? Good question. I don't know right now but I'm sure it won't be too long before this is disclosed. Regardless of its source, most of the music will likely be recognized mainstream. What will make the show unique will be the name of Mike Kasem, along with his presentation skills -- two factors working in the program's favor.

I hope that (a) he will use a "formal chart" ranking published by Mediabase or Billboard as it is without adding any other elements, such as airplay spins of their affiliated stations or request points on their website, and (b) he will mention chart movement from the previous week for every song, just as Casey did.

I hope that it is not (a) a celebrity gossip show, (b) have celebrity interviews, (c) be a plug-machine somebody's upcoming appearance in up-coming shows.
The VOA top 20 is Billboard-based, and the emphasis is chart movement. That show might not be too interesting to most folks though. Plus, it is too short of a show.
I wonder if there will be a dedication song on Mike's show. Probably so but with today's instant social media, the impact of receiving a message months old might not mean much.

Keep in mind that Billboard was charging AT40 something like $50,000 a year to use their charts. And Mediabase is a part of Clear Channel, so it's unlikely that he'll use charts from either.

If that demo is any indication of their format, then I do not see any reason to listen to it other than the host's last name.

Pete, do you have any information as to when they will start this great show and which station(s) will run this? Indeed, as suggested, I have forwarded a request to several non-ClearChannel stations so that we will be able to listen to this show on those stations.

I can't wait for Kasems Kountdown to start. However, I don't expect a Detroit station to pick this up. The CHR stations are either CC or CBS radio. The syndicated radio shows in Detroit have to owned by the same company that owns the radio station. Thank goodness for online streaming.

That was a great demo!-As far as the NYC area is concerned,"Kasem's Kountdown" would probably be a good fit for WPLJ-FM,which is a Hot AC station-I wonder if PD Scott Shannon was sent that very same demo.
